Desktops - March 2007

The volume in the Window Media Player is at max. level. I could hear that the speakers are working but hardly hear it. They were so faint. What could be the problem? I know it plug it in the correct hole.

Is there any way of making an exact copy of a computer so that if it becomes inoperable, you can simply load your "clone" from an external hard drive into another pc and have it up and running, WITHOUT having to re-install separate software programs?

have have recently got vista home premium edition and a week later put in a new dual core motherboard it loaded up fine but when i put the drivers from the disc on there it sayed restart computer so i did and now it wont load anything and brings up a screen saying i have a file corrupted and ive tired reputting in my vista disk and it still doesnt work i need some help so someone please help me

i have Xp and every time i shut down the pc. Switch off the power supply , the time and date goes back to 12:00 and 02,june,2002. resatarting the computer does cause any change to the time. please help.

My computer has slowed down significantly because of junk and viruses I have gotten over time. I have pictures and music on my computer I that I would like to keep. Is it possible to partition those files off from the rest of the hard drive and then do a system restore to make my computer preform like it was new again?

Okay. My friend's computer just died, so I want to give her a new one. I have a case with everything in it except a hard drive. I have a working computer upstairs with almost the same specifications as the case. Is it possible to make an exact copy of the hard drive that's in the upstairs computer? Can I just drag-and-drop the entire C:\ drive or do I have to format it first?

Im useless when it comes to computers, i have a compaq presario 061, intel pentium 4 cpu 3.06ghz, 1024mb ram, directx 9.0c. With an ATI Radeon x300/x550/x1050 series graphics card. I have been playing a game that you have to download off the internet for the last few months but now all of a sudden it wont load. I downloaded the update but it just wont let me log in. Is it down to my graphics card? do i need to upgrade it? I was clearing out my comp a few weeks ago, is it possible i could of done something to all of a sudden stop it loading? very frustrated aghhhh!

When every morning i switch on my computer ( xp professional ) after few min work my pc reboot and start scanning hards , i changed motehrboard / power and also re-installed windows but still i have same problem
security system i have in my pc are :

- tune-up
- avg free edition
- ad-aware

any idea whats wrong with my pc

for your information once once re-starting a day and after that my pc work normally

it could slip and cause harm to the technician or etc
it cud cause deformation to the adapter cards?
it cud break and short out the motherboard
it cud scarcth the case..causing the motherboard to short circuit

Hi,
just replaced the psu and was wondering if I had made all the connections. Mobo http://www.foxconnchannel.com/EN-US/Product/motherboard_detail.aspx?ID=en-gb0000044

So I plugged in the 24 pin and the auxillary four pin (P4) four pins in a square, do I need to connect more.
In the pic of the mobo I was hoping someone could tell me about the white 4 pins in a line connection it's at the top left of the picture on the edge of the mobo with a black connection right below it. Do I need to put a connection to that and if so what fits?

I'm looking to buy a pc with the Intel Core 2 Duo (1.80GHz, 800MHz, 2MB) processor

For an extra £30 there is the Intel Core 2 Duo (1.80GHz, 1066MHz, 2MB) processor

For the extra £30 am I really going to notice that much of a difference.?

I'm also thinking long term. Will the slightly faster processor last longer in terms of running future processor hungry applications - future proofing if you want to call it that?

i'm just wondering if the beeping sound that went on for about 5 minutes is a standard way of letting the user know that it is about to crash? i've been having a noise problem with my fan and i suspect/HOPE that by replacing the fan/power supply, it'll turn on again. any ideas about what happened?

I installed programs onto my computer and now when i start it the desktop icons, the start bar appear but then disappear instantly. I can only access the programs by task manager but im worried that its something that could harm the computer. What do i do to get those icons back?

I recently upgraded my computer motherboard and processor. I bought an AMD anthlon 64 3000+ processor to replace my anthlon XP (tm) 2600+. After installing the new processor and motherboard, my computer detects the new processor to be a Sampron (tm) 3000+ instead of a Anthlon 64 3000+.

To be honest, my Pc is faster than before, but I wonder if the seller scamed me by mailing a Sampron 3000+ instead of an anthlon 64 3000+ . Or maybe he mailed me the right processor (anthlon 64 3000+) but my computer is detecting it wrong. Please help....if you are familiar with the situation.

Does anyone know a website where i can i check out more detailed description of my pc specs??, I've tried tigerdirect.com but i couldn't find my brand. The only thing i know of my pc so far is that it is a Dell Dimension E051 \ Total physical memory: 256.00Mb \ Available Physical \ Memory: 93.55MB \ Total Virtual Memory: 2.00 GB \ Available Virtual Memory: 1.96 GB .
