Sometimes my CPU gives off a "Beep" sound for no reason. What is wrong with it? Is it overheated? Or there's a virus?

My computer is being loud and getting hot it seems. I've had it for about 2 years, I've tried to clean it but I just don't know how and I can't take things apart on it. It seems to be loud mainly when I play World of Warcraft or EQ2

For about the first 6 months I had my computer, it ran perfectly. Then it started randomly crashing. I continued to send error reports to Microsoft when I rebooted, but I didn't get any information. It would tell me that it was a problem with my power, CPU, RAM, or Hard Drive. They finally figured out it was my RAM. I only have one RAM slot filled, so I ran Windows Memory Diagnostic, and I got a bunch of errors. I switched it to the second (of 2) slots on my motherboard, and no errors. I'm assuming it was just the slot, but how can I be sure? Do I eventually need to replace my motherboard if I want more RAM (rather than just replacing the old stick)? I need help!

i need card names and (preferably) sites where i could look into purchasing one.

I don't understand it, how is going from 2.8ghz to 2.4 ghz an upgrade. Core Duos are faster, but how do I know what I'm getting will be an upgrade over my current P4 2.8ghz HT? I don't want to go spending money on something that turns out to be just about the same as my previous system.

I'm upgrading and want to sell my current system:

Graphics Card: ATI 9600XT 256MB
Processor: Intel P4 2.80Ghz HT
Motherboard: Asus P4C800 Deluxe
Hard Drive: Hitachi 200Gb
RAM: 2x512Mb Kingston Hyper X 3200RAM
CDRW Drive: 52x32x52
DVD Drive: 16x

How much would you estimate I should try and sell this for? I am hoping I can get at least $500 out of it.

My Computer is not running as ussual, i think the Windows XP startup is slower, sometimes its super slow depending on each time i turn on my PC, so i have to restart it, i think when i open the browser for the 1st time it takes time. i have a PC Game, Need for Speed Carbon Collector's Edition, i know my PC runs the previous game Most Wanted not smoothly, when i Installed Carbon im sure its suppose to be like Most Wanted but some audio in Carbon sometimes repeats and sometimes exits it self, it hangs when i exit it, when i tried playing Most Wanted, its the same, but Most Wanted doesn't have repeating audio before. I will format my PC when Windows Vista is released . By the way, this is my PC specs, tell me if any of this is not enough to run Need for Speed Carbon, and future games .

- Intel Pentium 4 HT 3.0 Ghz
- Nvidia GeForce 6600
- 1 GB RAM
- 200 GB HDD .

I don't think its actually slow, its more like its running Normally, but slows down depending on the program im running.

For all intensive gaming purposes, which is better? Since now Mac's can run Windows instead of OS 'X' now. So I'm wondering if I should try out a Mac. PC's seem to be just so much more expencive. Can I get a Mac to do more for less ($) when it comes to gaming versus the PC?
