Desktops - March 2007

my comp is really good. 3.2 ghz 80 GB. Like i had given it for repairing and they spoilt it more and gave it back. Now here the problem ...
you know when you scroll down a page it goes like immiediatly [ sry for spelling] only thing my takes time and goes down. Like it goes very slowly. And when i minimize a window it takes time. Any one know how can i repair this

This has been going on for a cuple of days now. When i try to load a such as grand theft auto san andreas I get a black screen then it crashes to desktop. Same or simalar problems with my other games too.

I'm a novice at computers, when it comes to latest technologies, so please forgive me if this sounds stupid.

OK, I have a little less than 1G of RAM, desktop, Intel Celeron M 420 CPU @ 1.60GHz, (whatever that means), I use WIN XP and Real Player 10. I've put about 17 or 18 CD's on it, will this amount be ok? Is it ok to put any more this? If so, could you please give me some kind of guidelines to go by?

I currently have Google Earth (along with several add-ons) installed, about 4 spyware programs, 4 browsers, a couple news/temperature prog,. A couple TV players, 4-5 media center add-on's, and a couple screensavers I downloaded. And ofcourse my 17-18 CD's and anti-virus, but that's about it. Drive C: shows, (used 12.3GB), free space:165 GB, capacity:178GB.

I am running windows xp, and after going through the boot up, I enter my password etc. but I only get my background and no desktop. I have tried opening it with task manager, safe mode, etc. but nothing. I am trying to use system restore but haven't been able to access it yet. Anyone have a idea?

I have a VAIO with 1.6 Ghz and I was wondering how I could fully utilize the cpu on boot up. When I press ctrl+alt+delete it says that I only use a max of 20% of my cpu when it boots up. how do I change the settings so I can use more of the cpu?

When we want to hide the folder, we can do so by clicking "do not view hidden files" , For this we should open "Folder options" in the "tools" menu from the tool bar from the top of the window. but i am not able to get that "folder options" from the Tools menu
