Will any cd burning software work or do i need the software specifically for the Sony CDRW 52x crx230ee?

anything that burns a cd. even windows media player will do.

You can use any software such as Ahead Nero or Roxio. These are commercial software.
There is free CD burning software such as CDBurnerXPPro (http://www.cdburnerxp.se/) but I'm not very familiar with it. I use Nero and it hasn't ever given me a problem.
If you have Windows XP with Windows Media Player 10 you can use that as well.

dear,u dont need any drver for ur cdrw.but for writing purpose u must need nero software which is the best among all.
down the latest nero 7.7.5.1 from www.nero.com

any software will work if u know what to use. it depend on what u want to do. if u dont know just clink link below. its the free sofware to burn cd or dvd

Any will work.
The only time you need to worry about anything specific when it comes to optical drives are the firmware revisions.
