started the pc in safemode and shutdown OK, so its probbaly a driver stopping it shutdown how do i fix it???thanks!!

I have no info on the mother board so i don,t know if 1gig would be compatable up grade from 400 meg,mach. is HP pavillion w/ XP-sp-2 was not orig. o/s 98 was. Is this going to be more expensive than buying a new mach.?

Yes I noticed it does have 1 PCI-E x16 slot.

I can either by a customized XPS dell desktop or an Auro m7900 alienware laptop. I want the one that is the best for gaming but will also allow me to carry out other needs, like doing homework. Okay, here's the thing, this is my mom's computer I'm trying to work on, and it was working fine yesterday. However, now when I try to boot, it gets to the XP loading screen, it goes away like it's about to load the OS, and then it just cuts off and starts over, saying "Windows failed to load properly", and then gives me the options of "Safe Mode", "Safe Mode w/Networking", "Safe Mode w/Command Prompt", "Last Known Good Configuration" and "Start Windows Normally".

I've tried these all, and it can't even boot into SAFE MODE. Help?

I have just moved my computer and disconnected all the leads and reconnected them all back.Turned it on and the red seems to have disappeared. Any ideas? I have not knocked the colour changes and have not dropped the machine on transfer. Please help.

I have AMD athlon 3000+, 1GB 400mhz ram which works on dual channel(actually 800 Mhz), onboard NVIDIA 6100 256 MB, The board is a performance board from gigabite-800 fsb, i run Win XP 64 bit. I have problems playing Splinter cell(all versions), Hitman blood money, Half-life episode 1, all good graphx games....u name it even demo's wont work. Though the miniumum system requirements are compleat(My system specks are quiet high than the minimum and sometimes exeed recomended) the system wont extract good FPS even is all settings are set to low and in lowest resolution. Auto detect setings set all seting set to high details(generally). Overall the system is performing 1/10th its performence 3D MARK scores are only 660.

I have a Compaq desktop 64 bit processor, 640 DDR ram, Vista ultimate 64 bit, i've installed a Geforce 256, fx5200 video card, every time i click on display properties to change the resolution my computer gives me a blue screen error 3b, what do i do ??

I been given two PC to repair both are emahines about 5 years old, the only repairs both these PC’s have had done are new power supplies, both wont turn off or restart without a force shutdown, both PC’s are clean of viruses & spyware, I cannot find anything wrong with XP OS, am I getting to old for this game or have the years taken there toll & am I missing something of forgetting something.

Before trying to shutdown, I’ve turn of the AV , firewall & disconnected from the Internet, checked with task manger & nothing is running in the background.

Any idea's welcome please.

it said that Reboot and Select Proper Boot device and it didnt work for 4 days. then i disconnected modem to laptop. I left my house for like 15 min, when i came home, it started to work. can computer be fixed in 15 minutes? i have feeling that someone got into my home and first broke it then fixed it. because it's very weird. aslo the BIOS were very messy before starting working. could it be that someone got into the house and fixed it???
