I have a Compaq desktop 64 bit processor, 640 DDR ram, Vista ultimate 64 bit, i've installed a Geforce 256, fx5200 video card, every time i click on display properties to change the resolution my computer gives me a blue screen error 3b, what do i do ??

Make sure that you're using the latest drivers, specifically made for 64-bit Windows Vista. As you have the FX5200 video card, try to download the latest NVidia drivers from their website and install it.

You had a onboard graphics in your system previously and it's driver was installed. Now you have installed the Geforce PCI Express card and it's drivers. The two drivers are making conflicts and hence the blue thunder. All you have to do is enter in the system bios when the machine starts by pressing F2 or DELETE key. Here in the graphics section you chose the PCI Express one. Press F10 , confirm yes and Enter to exit. Now after rebooting in Vista remove the graphics driver of the inbuilt card from add/remove or whatever u call it in Vista. Hope this will make your day. Keeping my fingers crossed.
