Desktops - March 2007

I used safe mode, but now I can't change the display to more than 640 x 480 and Lowest (4 bit) color. I installed the drivers that Dell put onto their Dimension 2350 website, but that did not fix the problem either. Suggestions?

i have an hp media center desktop running windows xp..when the pc is started up it goes through the regular motions,and all seems fine...when it gets to the desktop and everything begins to load there and seems fine then get a message saying "windows is shutting down" it does and the computer reboots itself and this process keeps repeating itself...earlier today the pc was virus scanned,spyware scanned and everything was fine...there has been no new programs added or anything else...at least i have my laptop..thanks in advance for any info

if i need to drop the screen then so be it. i dont really know what i need to run the latest games and stuff? i want an out of the box solution because its for a friend, i can be bothered with piecing a system together (ie. mother board x and graphics card y) i had a look at ebuyer(acer), dell. any ideas?

Something is wrong with my computer. When I click Start, Programs, and then Accessories, I no longer have the same 'Accessories' that I did this morning. For example, I'm lacking such programs as Bitmap, Calculator, System Tools, Disk Clean-Up, etc.

How do I get these things back? I am desperate.

My computer doesn't have a virus, and I'm operating on Windows XP.

i have dell optiplex desktop gx270 with XP Pro, 3.2 ghz,512mb. Suddenly stopped working and does not boot.No spinning of HD heard and it is all quiet, dvd tray does not open but with green light on the on & off button. Please help me on how to retrieve data. Very important because orig copy of Employee Policy & Procedure is in there. I know my mistake of not backing up regularly, I wanna crucify myself.

Alright I just got all the pieces for my computer that I am building and I have the motherboard set inside the tower/case.and I got the processor set in the proper place.The graphic card is also set where it is suppose to be,the power supply is where its suppose to be and.I also have the CD Drive and Hard Drive where they are suppose to be.I need to make sure that all the power supply wires are going to go into the right places.I am not sure that I have everything plugged right but it looks like it to me and my cousin agrees with me as well.So please help.

Hello, I have a Compaq Presario SR1550NX which comes with a 2.4GHz AMD 3400+ processor. I just bought a new graphic card because the standard onboard one just wasnt doin it.. after i installd the card.. i went to PROPERTIES on MY COMPUTER and saw that it now says 1.8GHz.. What does this mean?.. why did it decrease speed.. I have a ATI RADEON x1300 PRO AGP 8x card.. Am i still gettin my 2.4GHz but it just says 1.8 or is it really currently onli runnin at 1.8.. Thankss in advance.

I am running Windows XP Service Pack 2. Recently, while working on my computer for 2+ hours or so, it automatically restarts itself while I'm working. It has been doing this for the past 2 weeks and continues to do so when it's turned on for 2 hours or more. I didnt install anything new to create this problem, it simply started without warning. I recently uninstalled the Vista Transformation pack from www.windowsxlive.net. As soon as i restarted my computer after uninstallation I found that I could on longer use programs like Firefox, iTunes and Windows live Messenger by double clicking on them, so I had to right click and click open to open the files. I decided that there was obviously something wrong so I tried to use System Restore which under Start>All Programs, but this didn't work and so I had to do the same thing right click and click open for the application to start. The system restore didn't change anything so I don't know what to do, I need help. Can anyone help me?
