One has a dual 450 MHz PowerPC G4 Processor with 758MB of RAM.
The Other one has a 400 MHz PowerPC G4 Processor (not dual) but it has a full Gig of RAM.

I'm thinking that the one with the dual processor would be faster, but the extra RAM in the other one could help with applications such as Photoshop which lag terribly once RAM is all used up, and I don't really know all that much about macs. Pretty much everything else about the two machines was the same.
Any ideas?

Well, as you can see, I don't have a PoS computer... but I cannot figure out for the life of me what is making my computer lag.

My computer is brand new, like less than a month old. My processor started hittin 50% a few days ago, and it would stay there for about 10+ minutes. Yesterday, I did a reformat, and started from scratch (Windows XP Pro). Today, I am now having the same problem all over again. I know it is not my install... and my computer takes several minutes to go from the loading screen to the login screen (after taking several minutes on the loading screen).

The only thing I have installed are OS updates and Office. I tried setting the affinity of several processes, but nothing has changed. It only happens when I load something up. The mouse gets very jumpy (like when you open way too many programs at once).

I cannot figure out what is going on. Perhaps it requires a hotfix resolution? Let me know, I'm dyin to get back to bein fast again!

Hi. Im willing to upgrade my old P4 2.8 HT 1GB ram system to a Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4 ghz. I'm trying to save my budget, so what would be the best config bassed on this processor? I'll keep my old sata disks. Im a designer, so I use Corel Suite (for publishing), Photoshop, Macromedia's suite, Adobe Premiere among others.

My choice is:
- Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4ghz
- Video: Radeon x1650 pro 512mb pci-e, Sapphire
- MoBo Intel DP965LTCK
- DDR2 1 GB PC2-6400 Hyper Memory Kingston
- 600w W0129RU Thermaltake
- Matrix Thermaltake Case

I want to keep it below the 1,000 usd.

Any guidance will be appreciated.

I can hear my sys fans (at least one of the 3in the case) really get going when I am using any sort of graphics heavy app; online or off. It'll rumble quite loudly for a few mins then "BLINK!" off it goes. If I wait a few mins and restart it is fine untill I use the graphic heavy items again. What gives?
2.8 Ghz with processor fan, 2 additonal fans, .1 GB ram, XP pro, only using the on-board video, motherboard is MSI PM8PM-V What else do you need to know...?

My computer crashed a few month ago. I am and always be the only user. The first thing was that stopped burning Cds and is wasn't recognizing my 3 CD Roms. After a very bad repairing process definitely I could not see all my drivers or removable storage on My Computer. Then I had the idea of create a second user and in that one I can see everything but I cannot still burn Cds. I have tried different utilities like System mechanic 7 and nothing works. Could be an operating system problem? I use Windows Xp Home Edition SP2

Hi

I have a computer that i am thinking about upgrading, but don't know much about computer. I want to increase my computer speed, memory and performance, but don't know how to do it, so I’m writing this email to ask for your advice.

According to the mother board manual, my computer is about four years old and it has a Intel 1.70 GHz Celeron Processor which is install on to an Asus P4B533-VM motherboard.

According to this manual my computer con be upgraded to a Intel 2.4Ghz Pentium 4 Processor, but because technology in constantly changing e.g. new computer chips coming to the market, is it possible to upgrade my computer system?

Also I would like to install a graphic card onto my computer. Currently I am using an inbuilt chip as the video card. According to an book I read, I much chose a AGP card compliant to the motherboard. The motherboard has an AGP Slot that con only supports +1.5V AGP Cards. I would like to know do you have a graphic card that is compliant to my motherboard?

Regards

Linh Lam

I just now bought a new PC Chips P23G motherboard and Intel Core 2 Duo processor. However, when I turn on the computer, I don't get any display. Theres power but no display. I contacted tech support and they told me to set the jumper to clear the CMOS which I did and then set it back to normal. The MB came shipped with the jumper set to Clear CMOS but I tried it anyway. When I set it to normal I don't even get any power at all. What is wrong?
