the command used to formate a drive is "formate"

usage-
FORMAT volume [/FS:file-system] [/V:label] [/Q] [/A:size] [/C] [/X]
for help, type cmd in run window of ur computer, then type formate /? in the window that opens, it wil list all the options u can use with that command.

for example, if u want to formate the D drive of ur computer, u can use
formate d:
or
formate d: /fs:ntfs (if u want NTFS file system)

one word of caution, never run this command on ur windows-xp partition (where xp is installed) or all ur files there wil be deleted and u wil not be able to boot it up.

Look for a hidden partition or folder that has the recovery disk info there. Should be able to use thre programs there to build a set of cd's.

If you don't have a disk to re-install the Operating System --- Leave it alone. If you reformat (I won't tell you how) you will have no working computer because the O. S. won't be there!!!
