I had to buy word and install it. They had it on my new computer last year; much to my surprise it was only a two month deal. After two months I had to buy it or do without. For me: a computer without word is almost useless. They get us every time we turn around. Less computer, bigger price. They don't tell you up front what you're not getting.
The HP tech support service is also limited. The first time I called them they said it lasted for only 60 days. I believed them. So in my current 10th month, I was desperate and called them. I couldn't believe they helped me and didn't say anything about who was going to pay. Before they hung up from helping me; the man said that my 1 year subscription would be up in 42 more days. I feel they are very unreasonable about something like the necessities that should come with the computer.

Your PC manufacturer will sell you a new set of restore disks for a nominal price.
Contact them....odds are that the key you have may not be valid with a retail CD of Word or Office.

Call the Place of Purchase; Have the Details for Proof of Purchase, and they may be able to supply a Disc; If it is still in Warranty; if that Fails, contact MS, and see if they can help.
So long as you bought it legitmately, they are pretty good
