My sisters computer will not power up anymore. When the reset switch is turned on in the back the lights come on for about a second and then shut back off again. Also the fan does not come on. Any suggestions?

You can use the link on how to check the power supply.

About the only other thing you can do if the power supply checks good is to remove every card installed in the computer (except the video card, ya have to see the monitor) also, if you have more than one Memory module, remove all but the one.. Also, be sure to swap any remaining RAM modules if it doesn't start.

Then see if the computer starts. If it doesn't, Then unplug both cables to every drive EXCEPT your main C: drive to see if it starts then.

IF it still doesn't start up, the only other choice you have is to either disconnect the remaining drive and see if ti comes on, or try another video card to ss if that works.

In any case if it still doesn't work it looks like your motherboard is bad.

You need to replace the power supply most likely. Bring your sister's pc to a repair shop and they can tell you for sure. Power supply's are rather cheap, and even though they are rather simple to install, I would recommend you have the repair shop fix it as a simple mistake can fry your entire computer.
