Yes ofcourse you can, with slight changes in your activities.
1. Since the CD ROM is tilted, you can only use normal CD/DVD and not the smaller ones,
2. Use a soft platform on the base to avoid any scratches on its sides.
3. You can keep your monitor over the CPU to avoid space constraints.

Yes
You can out it on the floor, so long as the cables are long enough and you do not have any Flooding or Palmetto Bugs
All the units should work fine; UNLESS the Cradle for Discs and DVDs are not a snug fit. Then there might be a Laser read issue, but Normally ( And this is said advisedly with a Gateway) it should work fine.

yes you can, i have 4 computers, and i have been working with them for over 10yrs, laying a case on it's side will be fine as long as not fans are being blocked for airflow. cd-roms/dvd-roms have little tabs you can pull out so the cd doesn't fall out. be sure to pull those out. if you can remember older computers had a desktop style case and basically all that is, is a regular tower on it's side. hope i was some help, have a nice day

Mmmm, about the only problem you may encounter is IF your CD or DVD ROM drives are NOT designed to hold discs on the horizontal.
