You'll have to set the "Clear CMOS" jumper on the motherboard. The Dell website should have a user's manual that will show you how to do it.

If this is a "power on" password (while the screen is still black with white letters) then you will need to clear the CMOS via the jumper on the motherboard. There should be instructions on the Dell Support site.

If this is the Windows Logon screen you are talking about, try starting the computer in Safe Mode (tap F8 during boot) and see if you can log on as the administrator. If that isn't password protected then you can go into the control panel and remove the password from the other profile or create a new user. If the administrator password is set, you will likely have to reinstall Windows.

Good luck with this.

One of 3 things: 1st, try using the username "Admin" or "Administrator", without a password. 2nd, try hit the Cancel button on the login page, sometimes that will get you to the desktop. 3rd, hold F8 when you boot the computer, if it beeps at you or doesn't do anything, re-boot and hold the delete button. One of these should work, if they don't, oh boy.

Because of forgetting password, you can bypass the problem
by taking out the battery from computer for couple minutes before putting back in. This way will be bypassed the protecting bypass in your computer. Hopefully, it will solve
your problem.

If the PC came with Recovery disks, re-install Windows.

If not, go to Dell's website and order new Recovery CD's.

There should be a pin that you reset on your mother board. Wait before you format or reinstall anything. Go to a computer tech store and tell them you would like it reset or if they wont look up CMOS on the internet.

You will end up re-installing windows, it would be nice if you got the Dell disks with it but I bet you haven't. So you need a windows disk.
