no you can't because the RAM in a desktop is much larger than the RAM in a Notebook PC. They are not interchangeable.

unfortunately for you it is physically impossible to use notebook ram in a desktop. Compare it to the memory slots in the desktop you will notice that its about twice the size of the notebook ram

I dont think you can use your notebook RAM in a desktop. The difference comes in the size and shape of a slot and the RAM module itself.

Probably not, I think most notebook RAM is DDR2 and smaller with less pins. Your desktop probably only takes DDR RAM. You would want more than 256 anyway.

generally no. There are some desktops that can accept it (small form factor motherboards or compact units like iMacs and the like)
Easiest way to check is just to look at the slot :) laptop memory is considerably smaller than standard desktop RAM so you should be able to tell easily. If it looks about the same size you'd need to check your computer's manual to see if the ram you have is compatible. (number of pins, speed, etc)

Nope, totally different form factors. If you were to hold them up together you would see that the laptop module is much shorter than the desktop module. Good idea though!
