Look for the cover releases, there is no need to resort to this kind of violence. Usually 2 phillips screws at the back of the case or a release button on the front of some computers (Gateway). Release lever at the rear of Dimension's, 2 release buttons on the sides of Optiplex's. When in doubt check the website for your computer, download the manual and read it.

Electronically, it is not a good ethical practice. I could pose the following dangers:
It could cause an electrical shock to the operator or electrician as the case may be.
It could also be very harmful to the system circuitry. May also damage the board.
It could also be disastrous to the installed cards on the chasis/board.
