As the previous answerer said, stick to XP unless Vista is something you really want to experience now. With more RAM, you should be able to run Vista on your PC but some of your programmes may not run and some of your devices may not have the the correct drivers eg printer, scanner. Personally, I'm waiting for any glitches to be ironed out and the arrival of Service Pack 1 before I decide to take the plunge. For the moment I'm quite happy with XP.

It is only possible to run vista, on your system if you increase the amount of memory. Vista requires 512MB of RAM.

The way it looks you may also have to upgrade to a better Video card. If your system has 112, then this means that you are shearing 16MB with your onboard Video.

In order to appreciate Vista you need a high end Video card, with at least 128MB of memory. Better get one with 256MB if you can.

Try www.crucial.com Once there, look for their memory configurator. Put in your systems info and it will tell you, which type of memory you need and how much will your system handle.

If possible upgrade to 1GB. This will give you better performance and ease of use. Regardless if you upgrade to vista or not.

By the way, you must have WinXP, registered with Service pac 2 or you may not be able to upgrade either. Hope this helps. Will. Any Q´s on how to. ? email me and I´ll gladly steer you the right way.

Go to www.microsoft.com look for the tab to the page that will test your system and tell you if you can use it as is or if you need to upgrade some part! Do this before you buy VISTA!

Next, buy a hard drive, install it into your system and install VISTA on the new drive!

Windows will create you a DUAL BOOT SYSTEM, you can chose if you want to boot into VISTA or XP! No files lost, all your programs work! You get to play with VISTA until you get it to work the way you want it to.

Don't take out XP! Dual BOOT!
