Or do I really need a real Lighscribe disc?

Remember, this is just the top side of the disc, not the bottom part that's usually burned.

I have lightscribe on my laptop, already tried that.....it wont work, it needs to be a lightscrabe cd or dvd.......

I don't think it matters, the Lightscribe discs are blank on the top is the only difference I believe, with other discs it won't look so good cause there is already writing on there and you'll probably still see it when you print an image. I haven't tried it myself, but I'm sure it doesn't matter all you are really doing is printing on a discs top.

It won't burn anything because the Lightscribe software will recognize that it is the wrong kind of CD and tell you that it can't be done. If you look at a Lightscribe disk and a regular one there are all kinds of codes on the inner ring that the software reads to determine the type of disk.

Yes, it will be ruined. Ever leave a CD out in the sun? Just the heat on the top will destroy the disk on the bottom. But, if you want to try it out, go ahead on a blank disk. Then you will know for sure!

I would give it a shot, but i believe that you need to get lightscribe.
But got for a test drive, If it works you will be saving some money so What do you have to loose
