I always have to wait until she's sleeping and by then I often forget. I feel so bad when she scratches her little face. My first two were so easy, I just filed them while they were awake, but this little imp just wants to chew the emery board and won't sit still. She likes to watch me do my nails, but gets to silly when I do hers. It would be so much easier if I could do her 'manicures and pedicures' during the day. Any suggestions?

I am starting a nanny job next week watching after 2 and 3 year old boys. I love toddlers and do well with them but wanted to know some of your favorite games that are easy and fun to play with small children. What are some things you like to play indoors/outdoors with your children at that age?

Keep 'em coming!

My son was just two years old, spending the night at my parents' house. My mom makes my dad's lunch at night since he leaves the house at 5am. (He grabs it from the fridge in the morning.) So it's like 10pm and my son, Eric, is at my mom's side in the kitchen saying "Come lay with me, beema (grandma), I'm tired." Mom says "Hold on, honey, I'm almost done making grandpa's lunch." My mom turns to look at Eric after 15 seconds or so--he was gone. She assumed he went to bed to wait for her. He comes toddeling back into the kitchen and says (confused) "Beema, grandpa not want lunch! He sleeping!"

My other son for a long time said the "T" sound in place of "C" or "K". So cake was 'tate'. Well he liked Kix cereal. (See where this is headed?) He tells me one morning "Mommy, I want ****." My eyes buldged! "WHAT?!" I gasped (I didn't nurse him) "****. I want **** with milk" Then I got it. Sometimes he had cereal dry, sometimes with milk!

Eat breakfast, brush teeth, toilet and change. All can do independently but won't, usually. My wife and I want to encourage our child to be independent. I suggested an egg timer to set time parameters for activities and then a reward system such as a wall chart. Next to each daily activity she could put a sticker and if she does all 4 with little or no help she gets a little prize. Also take an instant photo to aid memories of the times when she was really helpful and everyone was happy. Everything is visual and tangible and rewards are immediate. Bit worried about stressing-out the poor kid though. Any comments suggestions?

I have a 3 year old and for the past month she has become attached to my pillow and pillow case! I have a pillow case on it that I had since I was a child and it's almost 30 years old. I don't understand why she suddenly loves only this particular pillow. She carries it with her into our living room and it keeps it by her side while she plays or watches a movie. I really don't mind that she likes my pillow but I am afraid she is having security issues.

I have an 18 month old daughter and lately I've noticed that she eats alot of paper or paper like things. She hasn't done it for long it's been going on for about a week. No matter how much I tell her no she can't stop eating it. She'll find any kind of paper but she mainly chews on her books and eats the cardboard on the edges. What can I do to stop her from eating it and will it cause her any harm?

My two year old will hardly eat anything. She will only eat: pizza, macaroni & cheese, plain cheese, mashed potatoes, most fruits and hot dogs. She is extremely skinny and it worries me. yesterday all we could get her to eat was some gold fish crackers and few bites of a corn dog and of course sweets. She has to be hungry. Would it be ok to give her 3rd stage baby foods again just to get some variety in her diet. I'm afraid she is malnurished. But we can't get her to eat. And we don't let her have sweets if she doesn't eat, so she is not filling up on that. She drinks milk good and we give her 100% juice diluted. Any suggestions?

i recently purchased 2 large packs of huggies nappys from a boots store. much to my dissapointment every nappy in the packs has been faulty, they are really thin on the part that collects the urine so they have all leaked causing my daughter to be wet, this is paticulary disturbing putting my daughter to bed at night knowing that theres a chance she will be wet during the night.
