They will eat bananas and hot cereal, yogurt and toast. Regular meals, like supper, they just seem really picky with.

my daughter is nearly two and a half and the other day in the night i went into her room as i heard her moving around and she was scrabbling against the wall disorientated.
Was she sleepwalking? when i picked her up she kept trying to reach the wall, which makes me think she was but i am unsure as to whether a child so young can!! sorry i prob sound thick!

I have toddler twins, that go through a horrendous amount of diapers and baby wipes. Do you think I would use less of the expensive name brand wipes because of their better quality? Or should I continue to buy store brand wipes(it seems I go through more of these, because they're thinner)?

Should it be sugar free? Should it be like a carrot cake or something along that lines? Or can I just let him tear into a regular 'ol cake? I don't want to give him something that may make him sick. Can he have chocolate?

I recently met my boyfriend's sister and her three year old daughter "Kayla" for the first time. I am a teacher who has experience with autistic children, and Kayla showed every single classic symptom of a child with rather severe autism. The family seems to know that something is "off" with her, but finds ways to justify her behaviors. I made a small check list of Kayla's behaviors and carefully brought up my observations to my boyfriend, who seemed really surprised but after looking through my books on autism agreed with me. However, he absolutely does not want to bring anything up to his sister. I certainly don't feel comfortable saying anything, but she really needs to get Kayla evaluated so she can start getting her help. Any ideas on what to do?

My son will go down in his bed but in the middle of the night after I'm asleep he'll sneak in and I won't realize this until morning. What can I do to change this? The bad part is most of the time I don't even realize it until morning. He does this about 90% of the time. Help!

One of mine is to try to project myself into my son's world when we are having difficulties in communication. I try to see his world from his point of view, using only the information and capabilities that he has and temporarily removing the information that I have, unless he has it also. I find that by doing this I usually find the source of the problem and manage to resolve it.
I remind myself that he is a person who is entitled to his idiosyncracies and preferences so long as the expression of them doesn't infringe upon the successful functioning of the household.
I also try to remind myself that I am raising an adult, not a child, in other words I try to keep the long-term goals in mind not just the immediate ones.
What are some of your guiding principles? Thanks for sharing.

For example: The other day I was on the phone with my best friend, and she had to stop talking mid-sentence to say "Will you PLEASE stop licking the floor?!?!" to her 2 year old. We had such a good laugh over how having children has changed our phone conversations due to needing to interrupt with the silliest statements to our little ones.
