My son screams; just to scream, just to be heard, just to get his way, just to yell at his younger sister, just to say no, for anything, he just screams. He even does this in the middle of the night if he wakes up; I guess just to say, "I'm mad because I woke up, so now I'm gonna scream!"

Sometimes things work; like sometimes, putting him in his room with the door closed works most of the time. Counting to three works, but sometimes not. I just want him to stop. Talking quietly never works, spanking doesn't work. How would you deal with this? He's 29 months, so just about two and a half. He's sensitive and gets frustrated easy.

I'm just looking for other ideas that may work or if anyone else has gone thru this.

I have been blessed with my daughter so far...she's going to be 2 next month and she's only had 1 tantrum so far. We've never had the need to do a time out. I know she's going to have them eventually and my concern is that when we do have to start time out she's not going to be used to it. What do you think?

Hes 2 and a half, and have been advised in the past to wait til he appears ready. I just dont think that time is gonna come. He sees me and his dad on the toilet, and is interested, but i ask if he'd like to go on, and hes shouts no. I've asked him would he like to do a wee on the potty- still a very adament no! Have bought a duck style toilet seat, which he loved- until i placed it on the toilet, he then screamed and pulled it off- he went ballistic! Have bought "potty stories" which he also loves, but doesnt wish to copy! recently, i told him he would get a sticker if he sat on his potty without his nappy on. He was happy to do this once, but didn't do anything on the potty. He got the sticker, and i thought we were getting somewere, but he wont do it again. he now wants the sticker, but wants to miss out the potty bit! I really have tried everything i can think of. I dont push it, i always ask him calmly, but he just seems to have a fear of the toilet and potty! help

I've been yelling a lot and then I have to go back and apologize. He'll tell me "it's okay, mommy. I get mad, too" and then give me a hug and kiss, but I still feel like I need a way to cool down when things aren't going right. Do you have any suggestions?

Even though in the past they've always been healthy? In the beginning of August (this year), my daughter had tonsillitis. She took antibiotics and it cleared up in a couple of weeks. In the beginning of September, she had a high fever for two days (with no other symptoms), but then that cleared. Then, in the beginning of October, she had an upper respiratory infection. She took antibiotics for 5 days. Her fever was gone by the 2nd day with antibiotics, but she still had a runny nose which lasted 2 1/2 weeks. I thought it might be allergies, so I talked to a pharmacist and she suggested giving her Dimatapp Elixir. That seemed to clear her runny nose after taking it for 2 days. Well, NOW today, she has a low fever, but no other symptoms. I'm hoping it will run its course, but I'm also worried about what is causing her to have a fever at least once a month all of a sudden. Of course, if her fever persists, I will take her to a doctor and ask him about this.

My 18 mo old daughter is starting to throw tantrums. She falls on the floor, kicks her legs, holds her breath.....I have never encountered this...I don't want to let her have her way, but I think she is too little to understand. Any advice what to do? Will it pass? It's hard not to laugh at her!

My son is 21 months old and he is being at the daycare since 4 months old but lately he is acting different when I drop him off. The teacher told me that he is hitting other kids but when he is with us (mom, dad, relatives) he never act like that, on the contrary he is always giving affection to other kids, and he loves kids. Should I believe her?
I am afraid the new caregiver does not understand him. When we get to the daycare he doesn't want to go in or stay at class, he starts crying and giving tantrums. The caregiver told me that the reason he doesn’t want to stay is because they do not let him do what he wants, but neither do we… What should I do? Is the caregivers fault?

I am very pregnant, (due in two days!!) and I feel like I am fighting for space in my own bed. My boyfriend's 3 1/2 year old son has recently come to live with us, and at least two to three times a night he climbs into bed with with us. Daddy doesn't usually wake up, but it really bothers me. I try to put him back in bed, but it hasn't yet lasted thru the night. I don't feel like I am the one who should be responsible, but I am the only one who seems worried about this. I'm not looking forward to having a newborn keeping me up, and having another kid trying to hog the covers as well!! How do I get Daddy to see that this is not working? And more important, how do I get him to put the child back in bed consistently without having a big fight at three am?

My 4yr old son has a temper problem, whenever he gets seriously mad he halls off and either attacks his sister or if it's me he will actually punch me. I tell him as well as does his Dad "you don't hit, you epecially don't hit girls". He still does it. What can we do to overcome this? I discipline him when he does it, but it hasn't mad an impact yet.

My 2 year old, who has limited vocabulary (like most 2 year olds) has become very mean at his daycare here in the past week. He used to be the sweet one, that his teachers praised, and never caused problems. Here lately, he has been hitting, pulling, and screaming at the other kids. He has been known to try to bite them, and hits them with the toys he has in his hand. The problem the teacher says is that there is this window/glass door that looks out into the parking lot, and he gets very antsy when it's pick-up time, and anyone that gets in his way of "looking out", he is a bully to. There has been no major changes in our home life, he is normally sweet, but another kid in the same daycare (not in the same class) bit him 2-3 weeks ago..... please help. I dont want MY 2 year old to be the bully of the class. All they can do is put him in time-out (so he ends up in time out ALOT) and I try to remind him to be nice, and not hit, but I am sure he forgets by end of day. Help.

She is flying with her father to her grandmother's for Thanksgiving. We have never been apart for this long. She rarely sees her father so this all could be very overwhelming to her. I want to prepare her as much as possible before then.

I have tried teaching her the "Nice....gentle...soft" thing while stroking her own face or mine. But she still goes to her newborn sister and pokes her in the eye, hits her, and even sits on her!

Any ideas?
