At this age, you will really need the help of the teachers and the daycare center. You son is probably not responsible enough to keep up with them. Just have the teacher take them up from him when they go out to play and give them back to him when he comes back into the classroom. Also try to involve him in taking care of them. When you pick him up don't just ask the teacher for the glasses, but have him ask the teacher for them. That will get him into the habit of remembering to get them. And try to be patient with him. Glasses are a big responsibility and all kids are going to lose or break them at one time or another.

I dont understand why he doesnt need to wear them when playing. As a person whose been in glasses since 3 the glasses were needed in play to help with distance, bluriness etc.
If your worried about them being broken get the flexable frames. Or talk to his eye doctor about which frames would be best for him in daycare/play/home etc. Also look into the strap before mentioned to keep them from coming off.
IF the eye doctor said he shouldnt wear them when playing (which I dont get) you need to talk to the adults responsible for him and ensure they are making sure he takes them off and them puts them back on. But realize everytime they go off and on your raising your chance of a preschoolers attention span (and a very busy teacher who has more than 1 kid to watch) loosing said glasses.

Tell him how important it is that he wear them. Explain that they're to help him see. Then explain this to his caregivers as well, and have them tell you when he's not wearing them. Tell him there will be consequences for not wearing his glasses when he's supposed to, and then follow through.

How old is your son? If he's real young, you may have to get a strap that he can't take off easily. Enlist the help of teachers to remind him. If he's older, explain to him why they are so important.

Make sure that the teachers do their part in making sure that he wears his glasses, to me, that would be like making sure he took his medicine as prescibed. that is part of the teachers job.
