In our house we have bath time around 7:30 or 8,brush teeth, read a story and then in bed by usually 8:30 or 9. What time you put them to bed really depends on when you need them up if you work in the mornings and have to be out the door by 7 then I would put them to bed about 8. Just make sure they get at least 9 hours of sleep.

Not to go against the common denominator here (which seems to be btw 7 and 8) our twin 4 1/2 year olds go to bed after 9 b/c they love to snuggle with us in front of a favorite video or while I watch Sportscenter. I take them to school by 9 am so we're up and about at least 2 hours before that and they do fine on less than 12 hours of sleep. We've tried very hard to get them to bed earlier and it turned out to be too much of a battle so we let them stay up later than most kids their age. It works for us.

Between 8:00 & 8:30 - that should give him/her a good night sleep and give mommy & daddy some alone time before the evening is over.

My rule is as long as they will get 12 hours of sleep. Some experts claim to keep them on a routine, honestly my life is go, go go and i just make sure she is able to catch 12 hours of sleep and a 30 min nap. So if she goes to school and i lay her down at 8-9 to wake her up at 8 the next morning. if it's a weekend and she goes to bed when she is ready, bout 10 and wakes up bout 9-10 the next day. So just make sure they get the require sleep needed and arranage as ur see fit.
