My son is will be 15 months old on November 5th. Is taking him trick-or-treating a waste of time at his age?

HOW CAN MAKING MEMORIES BE A WASTE OF TIME????

When my Daughter was 19 months old I took her out and she is now 6 and she remembers that night, even the costume. I could not believe it when she was talking to me about it last week-end(I only have her every other weekend). They will remember this as a special time between you and them.

Even if they don't remember it, take pictures to share with them as they get older and they will appreciate it

No! I wasn't going to take my daughter, but at the last minute I was talking to one of the bank tellers and our conversation made me change my mind about it. My daughter was almost 15 months last year, and it was fun! We just carried her, as it was easier since it was all new to her, she carried her little plastic pumpkin bucket the whole time, by herself, and she had a good time! She was an adorable little mouse, and I ended up so glad we took her. The weather was decent, so she didn't have to be too bundled up. She didn't eat much of the candy, since she was a bit young and had just started getting her teeth in not too long before that. So I ended up with most, but I'm grateful for the experience we had.

If I were you, if you are up to it, go just for the experience. Just for a way to introduce him to it. It's easy to throw together an outfit, any sweatsuit can be an outfit, and easy to layer clothes under, just add an animal ears headband, maybe a tail, and color on a nose and some whiskers, or whatever... Nothing too fancy. Have fun!

BTW - we live on the corner of a side street in town, we just went up and down that street and then went home

Take him to a few places, like friends and family, but not all over town. Personally, I'm taking my 11 month old daughter out to the event her day care is having and the one my church is having. Maybe something like that, but not a full out, all the neighborhood trick or treat. It's way too much for someone that little.

IAt this age, it's not really for the trick or treat, it's for just dressing them up cute and letting them see the other babes in their costume. Think of it more like playtime. I did it with my son on his first halloween. I made a simple "hippie baby" outfit and I kept the schedule flexible so we stayed when we wanted to and left when he was ready. It was fun, we had a ball. But don't worry, there is no "right" or "wrong" here, only what you and your little son enjoy doing and are up to.

When my son was 2 wks old we took him tick or treating and when he was 12 months we went trick or treating. he is 2 now and we still go. Child like to see pictures of their child hood, I know that for a fact, I loved to see me going to a door stop when I was a toddler in a bunny costume. It's the memories that count.

Take him to two or three houses of people you know. He'll have a little fun and get some candy. I tried to take my son at that age and after the third house he got tired and cranky, but he got to see both grandma's and an auntie and he had a little fun getting all the hugs, kisses and candy.

Just take him to the houses where people he knows live. Most candy he won't be able to eat, but he'll enjoy the raisins. And if he knows the people he's less likely to be scared by all the costumes or shy/uncomfortable with strangers. Regardless, he won't remember it anyway.

No, it is not a waste-of-time. Go in your neighborhood. It's a great way for you and him to meet your neighbors and talk to people you may normally not converse with.
