So this morning my almost 3 year old decided (as usual) that she didn't want to get dressed. I go to the office 3 days a week and today I needed to be on a set schedule. Well, I tried to change her mind by asking her if she wanted to wear pants or a skirt. She said skirt. I went to get it out of the closet and she went ballistic and screamed "I want to pick it out". So I let her. Then she wanted to pick out her top. So I let her. She picked out an overall shorts outfit. Well, I had to tell her "no" since she is potty trained now and it is too hard to get overalls off to go to the bathroom. She again went ballistic and was pushing her way into the closet over and over to get the overalls. Finally I lost it and raised my voice to her and told her that now I would pick her top out. My husband says I should not have yelled at her. What would you have done?

She is 3 1/2 years old and she has had hypothyroidism since birth. She has been denied by IHC Select Health and Blue Cross Blue Shield through individual plans. And we no longer qualify for Medicaid or CHIP because our income level is too high. So unless my husband has benefits through work where they can't deny her (which he doesn't have at the time), we have been unable able to find insurance for her. Does any one have a solution?

My 5 year old swallowed a rubber band at preschool today. They are not sure if it was a latex band or one that girls put in their hair. Do you think this is something to worry about?

She use to gobble up food and really enjoy 3 meals a day. All of a sudden she shakes her head no at almost everything I offer her. I've read and heard this is normal for her age...but come on she's got to be hungry. She drinks milk and water just fine...nibbles on crackers and will occasionally eat an egg for breakfast. Other than that, it's pretty much no no no to everything else.

Any moms or dads out there have any tips or tricks to offer up? Thanks!

My son was diagnosed with congential trigger thumb when he was appx 13 months old. We noticed that his thumb on his left hand was locked in a bent position and would not straighten out no matter what you tried. This never caused him any pain nor did it bother him at all. We tried physical therapy and it did not work. Finally we had to schedule surgery to fix it. A week before the surgery we noticed that his other thumb was doing the same thing. So, the doctor performed the surgery on both thumbs. The surgery took place around March of this year and he has had absolutely no problems with it at all. (Thank God!). It was a very small incision on his hand and it was over pretty quickly. My question is are there any other parents out there who have dealt with this same problem? My doctor advised that he has seen the condition in adults but that it is very rare in children and they don't know why it happens.

My 4 1/2 year old descovered that she is afraid of skeletons due to the halloween decorations. She gives a little eeeeek and a shutter then runs away. I'm not sure if she is really afraid or just having fun being afraid (if you know what I mean). Tonight I told her about the skeleton under our skin. Now she keeps looking at her hand- and gives a grossed out look. Should I have not told her that?

My son, who just turned 4 and is in preschool, has been acting crazy lately. He has poor impulse control and downright disobeys me. I am with him ALL DAY EVERY DAY, my husband works a lot, and I am about to pull my hair out. He is far from ADHD, but is clearly acting out, on purpose...out in public or when we are at someone's house, or when someone comes over. We do timeouts, and I do spank, when I need to, and I talk with him a lot about this.
If any one has ANY advice on how to handle him or what I should try, I am all ears.

Thanks.

When I was about 3 years old, I had been living on 3 hours sleep and I had no day time naps. I was never tired and never got irritable because of lack of sleep.

Because my mother was so firm about children bed times, I used to wonder what would happen to a child if it had been awake for more than 48 hours (2 days and 2 nights) non-stop without a wink of sleep; would they die?

What's her piont?

There are a TON of cute beds for toddlers that use crib mattresses. Anyone know where to buy something similar that uses a twin mattress instead? I'm looking for under $200 without mattress.

The only one I can find is the Step 2 race car bed that comes for either crib or twin mattresses, but it's not really what I want. I'd like a wood one similar to this (doesn't have to be a sleigh bed):

Our 13 month old only has two bottom teeth, and we can't see any more even remotely close to coming in. Is this pretty unusual? Were yours slow at getting them? My first son started getting his at 3 months and never stopped! It's finally starting to concern me.

16 month old who started walking about 3 months ago. At this time we noticed that his skin would change color. The area around his mouth and nose would be a bluish-gray and the rest of him would be pink. Or his head and neck and his legs from the knees down and feet would turn purple while the rest of him would be pink. Or his whole body would turn a bluish-gray color. Or all or half of his tongue would turn blue. Sometimes his lips turn blue. He is a happy child and almost never cries. The doctors don't have a clue as to why he changes color. One doctor says that it is normal for light skinned toddlers to turn blue where his primary care doctor is baffled. He also sweats with exertion and in his sleep. An electrocardiogram was done and showed that there was a pulmonary murmur, other than this everything is normal. Is there anyone out there who has experienced something like this in a child? What did you do? Where did you go for help? Is this life threatening? Did you get a diagnoses?

I have 3 year old twin daughters and a year old and a five year old niece. Do you think that their age is good to get a MY TWINN Doll for Chritmas or should they get BUILD-A-BEAR. My mother(their grandma) wants to get them these, but I told her they may be too young. My one niece who is 6 got hers when she was 4 and she was too little to understand. I really need help because you nedd to order them far in advance. Thanks. If you have any other suggestions, please tell me.

She's two, will be three on Thanksgiving and she's all of a sudden started throwing tempertantrums and saying no, these are so not like her! She has been going through a lot, I know a two year old under stress, but seriously, she has spastic cerebral palsy, she's developmentally affect, but not mentally, she's smart as a whip. Because of her "disability" (I hate this word) I think her day care baby's her. She's about to go through serial casting for her legs in an effort to help her walk like you and I, how can I help her through this phase without losing my mind and her getting worse?
