You should report them. Even if a child throws up only once, they need to be sent home. If they even have a tummy ache, in my opinion should be sent home. They are putting other kids in danger of getting sick, and are not giving the sick child proper care. My son went to preschool and threw up about five or six times. He had to stay there until dismissal. He had to get an iv and stay over night at the hospital from dehydration. Apparently, They did this to three other kids. The other moms and I told all the other parents and put the preschool out of business. Why do you get punished for getting sick? any ways you should seriously report them You could help a lot of little angels and also yourself. Good luck.

It depends upon why the child threw up and what other information is available. Without good information, one throw up should get the child sent home. If the child has a history of throwing up without being sick due to nerves or some behavioral issue, then that would be a nuisance more than anything else. If the facility is capable of dealing with that in a safe manner, then that too is an issue. Bodily fluids are always considered a hazardous material without regard to whether or not it is a hazard. That is because who really knows? The child's health is private by law. They don't know if there is a risk or not. It's similar to telling people to use a condom every time they have sex. It is a precautionary measure.

A child should be sent home immediately...after 1 time throwing up. I've worked in many daycares and this was always the rule. This daycare is not taking proper health precautions.

You don't say how old this child is. I would think that age would play a factor as well. I mean, alot of babies throw up all the time, it's no reason to send them home.
That being said, if you do not like the policy at this facility, maybe you should find other employment.

My child threw up 2 minutes after I left the building. He was not ill, but upset at my leaving and got so worked up, he vomited. I was only a few hundred yards away by the time my cell rang. The rule at his daycare is one vomit and you're out. lol. I gladly went back, took him home and he was fine, now that he had got his way, of course.
Anyway, one throw up and you're out and parents should definitely be called. Not fair on anyone, child, other children, care givers and parents not being kept informed.

Every Day Care is different. If the child seems like something they ate just upset their stomach usually they aren't sent home. If they have diarreha with it or running a fever then they need to be sent home. We usually call the parents if it seems like they are not feeling well and let them know. Most of the time if the parents can they go ahead and pick them up

I thought that it was once. If the daycare didn't call me about my child throwing up- I'd throw a fit. The kid shouldn't be there. I was a teacher and I'm a parent so I completly understand and agree with what you are saying.

Well, without passing judgment like some other
'non-daycare people' who responded, I'd like to agree with the majority of us "bad" send-your-kids-to-daycare-parents (See you all in hell, apparently, but at least we'll have friends there!):
Report it. If this is a state-regulated daycare, find out what the regulations are. Then report if they are breaking the regulations.

ok for one, calm down. b/f you go calling parents and 911, first you have to figure out what made the child throw up. he/she could have eaten or drinken something that didn't agree with their system so they threw it up. it doesn't mean the child is sick or needs to go home. it means, watch what you give them b/c kids are sensitive.
common sense is to wait and see if the child does it again or starts developing a parent. no need jumping the gun for an upsest stomach.

There are all sorts of health standards and all of that they have to go by. Have to call the parents or if they are not able to contact the parents a grandparent or whoever the emergency contact is should be contacted as soon as it happens and the child should be seperated from the other kids..
