There should be no problem with useing the 2 together. My daughter who is almost 11 months old has been on amoxicllian twice for ear infections and both times I used motrin for her for the fever. She had no problem with them. But if you still ain't real sure talk to a docter or pharmacy.

Be careful with Motrin and other brands of ibuprofen as they are hard on the kidneys. Think about switching off to Tylenol or other acetaminophen brands as that fever reducer is a bit easier on the body. Good luck.

Only if you are using proper Dr.'s prescription for amoxicillin and infant dosage for Motrin. Maybe better to use infant Tylenol??Instead of Motrin. Check with your Dr.

Yes amoxicillian is an antibotic and the motrin is pain and feverreducer.

You sure she meant amoxicillin? Like the nurse said, one's an antibiotic, and the other is an antiinflammatory pain reliever. Are you sure she didn't mean to say that Motrin is the same as Advil? Because that would be correct - they are both ibuprofen.

You are right, amoxicillian is an antibiotic and fights the infection only...motrin / tylenol are for pain relief...I have mixed them both and have children ages 15 / 12 / 4...all are healthy and happy!

Antibiotics can definitly give you diarrhea. Narcotics are more likely to be constipating, and motrin usually has no effect either way. If the diarrhea is very bad, call your doctor. She may want to prescribe something different. And be sure that you keep breastfeeding often.

It's fine to mix them, but Motrin can be a little hard on the stomach. If the baby is vomiting, consider either Tylenol instead... or Tylenol suppositories (available over the counter now as either Tylenol or FeverAll suppositories) to reduce fever without risk of vomiting meds back up.
