I find typical Hallowe'en make up to be greasy and causes rashes. Stick to the make-up you use yourself. A very liberal amount of eyeshadow on a large brush touched just on key areas will give the impression of green face. And use an eyeliner pencil to draw on a stitched scar.

Just brush the green across his cheeks and nose and a little on chin and forehead/ and a quick job will be much much better with a child this age.

I've used store-bought face paints on my toddler, but the packaging said that they were specifically for children's face painting. So they're non toxic. My son doesn't have any allergies that we know of so those paints worked out fine. The ones for Halloween however may be made for adults and if your child has sensitive skin, he may get a rash. Perhaps you can find some paints made for children.

Or if you'd like, you can easily make your own face paints. There are a lot of recipes/formulas on the web but this one is pretty common. At least you'll know exactly what's in this stuff.

1 teaspoon cornstarch

1/2 teaspoon water

1/2 teaspoon cold cream

1 to 2 drops food coloring

In small bowl, combine water and cornstarch. Mix in cold cream. Add food coloring. Washes off with soap and water.

Hope that helps!

well just remember their face is delicate so put it on lightly and dont put too many layers of face paint if the bottle says non toxic and hypoallergenic then i would think it would be ok ... oh a tip" use a cotton ball and a little of baby oil to get the stuff off baby's face or when u give a bath just use the baby shampoo and light strokes on face dont rub this hurts thier face...

happy halloween and have fun

At 17 months, I'm not sure I would paint his whole face as he might not be aware not to touch it and rub at it and stuff. I used the makeup crayons on my daughter last year, she was almost 15 months, but I only used them to color a nose and draw some whiskers on her. We didn't have any problems.

Put a little on his arm and watch him for awhile to make sure he isn't allergic. If it doesn't seem to bother him, then I'd say it's safe to put on his face. But I don't think the face paint crayons are good for coloring his entire face. The crayons are more for details.
