I don't know if a 10 month old is capable of learning "no" yet. I have a 13 month old and she is just starting to grasp the idea of what it means. Of course she usually does what I tell her not to anyways!
As far as teaching your 10 month old, I would suggest distracting her with something else if she is doing something naughty or misbehaving. It seemed to work well my daughter, she would forget about something as soon as I put something else in front of her. Good luck!

it's seems so simple to just say no to a 10 month old. however, it won't be fun when it's all she repeats to you in 6 months. might i suggest that you try some other means. redirect her towards something fun that she enjoys. if she simply won't leave something alone try removing it from the house if it isn't necessary until later. also, sometimes the way something is stated makes all the difference. ex...when my son rolls his cars on the tables instead of telling him no i gently direct towards the floor telling him that "We roll our cars on the floor."

'No' is one of the first words kids learn. Don't you think that's kind of sad? What do you think it does to their psychological development at a core level if the first word they learn to say is the embodiment of negativity?
'No' is so boring and unimaginative. Find creative ways to re-direct your child towards things that are safe, and that they can do. Don't emphasise No, No, No, all the time. Forget 'No' and put them in places where you can say 'yes' instead.

even though some 5 yr olds still don't seem like they know the meaning, just keep repeating yourself when your child does something wrong. Consisentcy is the best way. Don't like him/her get away with it the one time but not the other

You cant. At the age of 10 months they fully dont understand what the word NO means. But what they do recognize is what you do. So if you dont do something they wont. They start understanding just after a year what it means, and they realize that it is wrong.

You have to install discipline early on, teach them that no means no or there will be consequences, the corner, timeout, swat etc. Also, routine is crucial.

You don't teach them what it means, you show them. For example if you don't want them touching something, then say "no" and take it away. They'll get the hang of it sooner or later...and then they'll be saying it themselves all the time :-)

Alot of patience and gentle firmness. Repeat, repeat, repeat. And hover over them because they have no clue yet and potentially could get into things that could kill them out of simple and naive curiousity.

always repeat saying no her... she will get used to it until she stops doing the thing that you dont her to do it... divert her attention into something... or better yet play with her if you have time... so that you can guide her...
