I always have to wait until she's sleeping and by then I often forget. I feel so bad when she scratches her little face. My first two were so easy, I just filed them while they were awake, but this little imp just wants to chew the emery board and won't sit still. She likes to watch me do my nails, but gets to silly when I do hers. It would be so much easier if I could do her 'manicures and pedicures' during the day. Any suggestions?

I've thought of biting them, even tried to once, but the one nail she did let me bite was all rough and jagged and still needed to be filed! Plus I worry about the germs in my mouth, I know it's not really sanitary and I'm a bit of a germaphobe...

Same problem- I kept clippers in the car so I could trim her nails while she was asleep. The car ALWAYS put her to sleep.

ok, miniboi went off his meds but anyway
I have my husband hold my 18 month old son in one arm and use the other hand to hold my sons arm. I then have two hands to clip. I do this when he is in a good mood. Waiting for sleep never worked, he always woke up! Plus I might not get all 10 nails, I just get what I can, don't file, just clip across and if there are any pointy parts clip those to. Good Luck!

The best time is when they are in the bath or just after the bath when the nails are soft and clean or when she is taking a nap in the middle of the day she has to sleep sometime.

My daughter was one to roll around and want to chew on the file or clippers too... I started washing her hands and biting her nails off. Didn't have to worry about cutting her and getting them too close. It sounds gross, but it got the job done safely. Now that she's 4, she lets me trim them.

Well my daughter is 4 and I have to bribe her, because she was afraid "cutting" her nails was really going to cut her. So when it is time to cut her nails I offer to paint her nails. She sets still because she loves getting her nails done!

This may sound odd, but my mom swears by biting them off instead of using the sharp clippers.

during or after a bath, when her nails are nice and soft, you can just peel off the tops
