My stepdad, who is my only dad as far as I 'm concerned. He has Asperger's which is a form of autism, and I know that it makes him somewhat distant. He can't really connect with anyone on a deep level. I understand this and love him anyway. He and my momdivorced when i was 11, but he remained treating me like his daughter. he has no biological children. Now, I know that he can say the words "I love you. " I have heard him say it to my mom and my aunt. Yet, he has never said those words to me. I know he does love me, he shows it on other ways, and has since I was a kid. But I am 22 years old now, and although it may seem like a petty thing, I really want my dad to tell me loves me. Just once. Then I'll be happy. But I don't want to make him uncomfortable. How should I approach this? Or would it be better to just let it go? He doesn't have to say it every day. Just once.

My other mom friends have gossipped about this other mom saying "I like her daughter, but her mom is an alcoholic, if you watch her daughter for a few hours, count on watching her for 12." I have witnessed this myself. So the other mothers are distancing their children from the alcoholic's daugher.

My grandmother was a chronic alcoholic for years. My mother is still quietly suffering emotionally from growing up with a mother who was neglectful. As a result, my mother doesn't touch alcohol and has grown-up to be a productive member of society and she was a very caring if not overprotective mom.

I asked my mom if I should risk losing my gossipy "mom friends" to help this little girl...and let her play at my house with my daughter for the 12 hours just to help HER as the daughter of an alcoholic. My mother said as she got older she became aware of not being able to bring friends home and all she wanted was a best friend, a mother-type who showed she cared for her. What'd you do?

When is a child old enough to get a spanking? And by spanking i mean one or two pats on the bottom. Not really hard, just to let them know not to do whatever they did again. Thanks in advance!

I know a DISGUSTING "former friend" who at the time was in her mid-twenties who had sexual relations with then a 17 year-old boy to conceive a child for a lesbian relationship, the kid is now 14 and VERY dysfunctional and disobedient. SHE'S A BAD MOTHER she's even letting her daughter drop out of school when she's 16. As a result she DOESN'T deserve this beautiful child and needs to go to JAIL or something for her foolish SELFISH stupidity. And may I ad she smokes, gets drunk DAILY while the kid is 14 and has NO RULES. The mom is SCARED of her daughter and believe it or not she had graduated from summer school all because GET THIS her daughter went to school 1-2 days a wk. for the ENTIRE SCHOOL YEAR. THERE'S got to be someway to take this child away from this HORRIBLE EXCUSE of a mother who also doesn't ever want to get a job EVER and is free-loading off of the childs' aunt who she originally USED her 17-yr.old brother (child'd aunt)for sperm to conceive the child!!TRUE can back it up.

Let's just say that, what if Megan did not kill herself as a result about what happened on MySpace. Let's say that she turned the violence onto others.

What if she killed her parents in a rage, or brought a weapon to school and killed a few people. Will people still be blaming the mother who created the page for causing Megan to snap? Will we want Megan off the hook because we are able to empathize with her and not blame her for her violence?

All in all, you are responsible for what you do. Whether you kill others or kill yourself is in your hands alone. You are held accountable for YOUR actions.

I've seen 12 year old children being teased from their classmates cause they still believed in Santa...In younger ages I find it quite sweet and magical but a 12 year old is old enough to know how things are...When do you think is the proper age to say? When did you tell the truth to your children?

i am raising a son here and am trying to have a good attitude towards men. But the answers I had on my last question :

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

Those answers told me that all guys want it sex. I have had bad expereinces with men like this. How do I raise my son with a good attitude towards his gender, when I have not had good experiences with men and they say things like this ?

I am a single mom, so I really want to get a good attitude towards men! It is very important to me to raise him to be a decent, caring person....not like the guys that I have encoutered

They're not cheap ones either. She saves about half of her pocket money and buys gold ones from a jeweller when she has saved enough. She has even bought herself a pair of small diamonds (€40/pair ones).

Yesterday I told her she had shown how determined she was to have some nice earrings, and saving like that showed she was being real responsible, so I would take her to get them pierced after her swim class.

At this point, she told me she didn't want them done yet. She wants to get them done when she a little bit older. She just wants to make sure she has some nice earrings when she decides the time is right. She then went on to explain that it would probably be at the start of the summer holidays next year or the year after, because then she has 8 weeks without school so she won't have to take them out early for sport.

If I had been spending half of my money on earrings for 6 months, I certainly would be in no mood to wait that long.

Lets say you and your spouse are sitting in the back yard, one of your kids get hurt, they run crying, who do they go to for lovin mom or dad? Does it bother you when they don't go to you or show for affection to others?

I must say it use to bother me and I found myself trying to have them love me more. Of course I have since moved beyond that since they come to me for other things and love us the same.

ok. im 29, my girlfriend is 23, and my daughter is 15. we went over to her parents house earlyer today, and when my girlfriend was introducing my daugter she said "this is, uhh, this is kye, joel's sister. she lives with him." I dont understand why she couldent just tell her parents the truth. i no that i was very young (14) but i have lived up to my responsibilitys, and stayed with my baby girl, when her mother wouldent. How would you react if your girlfriend wouldent introduce your daughter as your daughter, but as your sister. Me and her have talked about marrige, and we are both thinking that that is what we want, and she seems to love my daughter as much as i do. what do you think.

if you need anymore info, just ask the question and i will edit the answer in.

Looking to start part-time job while daughter is in school durning the daytime. I have been at home mom 4 years now and have NEVER used babysitter or daycare & would like to keep it that way. WHAT DO I DO ABOUT SUMMER BREAKS, SPRING BREAKS & OTHER VARIOUS BREAKS W/OUT QUITING the job every summer and starting a new one? I dont see how this is going to work!

#1) What *part-time* job (NOT CAREER) would allow you to simply not work durning most of your childs school vacations & breaks? Im thinking NONE! except teaching....and well that is a career. Im only looking into casual part-time jobs for extra cash and definatly want it to be OUTSIDE the home for socialization issues I desperately need.

#2) If i crack and decide to do the daycare thing (I simply refuse to put her in personal nanny/sitter care due to security issues i have) but could consider a large daycare building/setting....Will they even be OPEN durning a holiday break and school breaks? Or is most large centers closed
