So I was reading answers to another question about spanking here, and saw the 'best' answer choosen was to spank your kids on the bare bottom. That sounds crazy to me, yes spank the kid if he/she is seriously misbehaving, but why do you have to touch your kids' *** lol, what is wrong with these people? Does one layer of clothing really make much difference when it could be the thin line between good old discipline and potential sexual abuse?

Today i lost him in a mall, when i found him he is enjoying himself walking around,he is not afraid at all. How can i make him understand that he should not run away from me?

My friends' 2.5 year old son wants to wear dresses and loves lip gloss. Now mind you he also loves Transformers. At what age do children fall into their own male/female role? At what age are those things considered not the norm?

I know the two are separate issues in court. HOWEVER. let me just explain the situation. he dumped me as soon as i got pregnant. then was not there. She is four months old, he woudlnt come to the hopstal to see her has not came by to see her NOTHING. I tried to call , no answer. I am pursing child support he went down to the child support enforcement agency and demanded a paternity test. At this point, it seems likely to me if i drop the case, he would just walk away. IT seems his main concern is not paying. I really dont watn him in our lives. Do you think if i dropped the child support case, he would likely disappear and go away from our lives?

So I am buying clothes for a two year old this Christmas as part of a "Letters to Santa" program. Whatever. So I get a letter from a woman who's english isn't perfect and she says she has a two year old, but in her letter she said that the two year old wears size 6T? I dont have kids, but even this sounds a little nuts to me. I dont know if the baby is extremely large for his age or she just wants the clothes to fit longer .. and there's no way for me to get in touch with her. Any suggestion from people with children this age as to what size I should buy would be SO appreciated. Thanks ;)

have a son who's 11 and still has accidents a few times a week.
I try not to make a big deal about it b/c I had a problem as a child.
We just do all the things like no or limited liquids. Waking up to go, etc.
I saw a commercial with children my child's age saying oh yea they help.
I sometimes wish they had them when I was a child b/c theres not much worse for a kid that waking up with soaked sheets.
I just can't see saying to my son, here wear these.
Honestly, I think the embarrassment would make a bad situation worse.

I hear so many questions (on here and real life) like, how do I get my four year old to stop throwing tantrums? How do I make my 9 year old brush their teeth? How do you get a 2 year old to sit in time out?
Now I have 6 kids, they're all very normal and certainly not perfect angels. I know how kids are, they have bad days, and they all misbehave.
But it seems like some parents have the most ridiculous time with their children, whatever happened to my house, my rules?
They're young children, MAKE them do it!

Besides everything thats going on, my step daughter trying to pysically harm my son I have done all the advice people have given me. But, my step daughters Mom will not let her call me her step-mom. Ok, everyone has told me to include her and treat her as my own, and I do and always have. But her Mom is telling her different. Her Mom doesnt want her to be close to me, she doesnt want me to include her or treat her as my own, or as family. She convices her that its not right, and she doesnt have a step-mom. I cant talk to her Mom, she's impossible to talk to, all she does is yell and scream, and no matter what shes right. CONTINUED>>>>>

I am a college student expecting my 3rd child this summer. Are my first 2 kids old enough to babysit while I'm in class (my projected schedule is 2 hours after school, 3 days per week). The baby should be 6 weeks old when class starts. They are very responsible kids, but I'm not sure, even though I babysat starting at age 12.

My other question is: is it fair to have them babysit? When I think of all the free time they have for video games and ipods and such, I think it is; however I understand that it's my baby, not theirs, and I don't want to unduly burden them.

Should I just get a sitter?

I had the best time of my life in my early twenties.

I traveled.
I loved.
I drank.
I did crazy things.
I lived wildly and passionately.
I enjoyed college.
I lived in the moment.

When I see these young people pushing strollers I feel sorry for them. I feel like they've missed out. Let's face it, when you have children your free time is GONE daddy GONE.

my daughter is in kindergarten this year and is having trouble. she is having trouble with speech (in speech therapy) , recognizing letters and numbers. she only counts to 11 and they say she should be counting to 20. she can only recognize a few letters from the alphabet. every single day i read to her, i point to the words while we read. i go over her speech papers that are sent to me (try to get her to pronounce the words the way they should be), we do the alphabet with and without looking at the letters, we do the same with numbers. i have bought flash cards and we work with those. i made her a childrens cd with the alphabet songs and all sorts of kids songs for her. i dont know how else to help her. she does not require a special education class, i just dont know what else to do to help her so please dont be disrespectful when answering. this is an innocent child we are talking about. if anyone has any creative teaching ideas for me please do tell! i just want to help her learn

Whenever I tell my daughter no she just continues to scream at me she wants something so I just stand firm on ignoreing her & let her scream. She thinks she doesn't have to listen to me cause she is a daddys girl. I usually punish her by taking privledges away but no punishments seem to work. Any suggestions? She is 6. Her brother doesn't act this way & he is 9.

My stepdaughter has been living with her mother now for 3 years, without anyone else but her other two children in the home. CPS has taken the children once, and they were returned to her because they were all three molested by their fosrter parent. Now the judge will not allow them to be removed aain. It seems that the worse the situation, the more steadfast the judge is about not removing the kids. When we went to court this morning it was to support the worker in trying to get them removed. i had to have my stepduaghter's hair cut and treated for lice last time she was here, becuz they were all over her body. She had a cut on the bottom of her foot, and it didn't look like her mom had trid to treat it at all. She said she stepped on a can lid. I have had to go get her at 3 a.m. because her mother's bf went nuts and ripped out a handful of the girls hair a well as beating on her other two children and breaking the eldests nose.

she doesnt actually go anywhere with him. she wont actually go out anywhere with a boy untill shes 15 or so and thats only if shes mature enough

what would u do??

for the people who are gonna say no dont let her have a boyfriend period, shes gonna have one whether i like it or not and i dont want her to hide it from me

Do you think that spanking your daughter is okay? My mom remarried when I was 2, and my stepdad would spank me with a belt as punishment..he did that for 10 years. If he had slapped my mom accross the face, or hit me in the face that would have be seen as abuse, but because he hit me on my butt, it was seen in society as harmless punishment.

Why is spanking NOT considered child abuse in America? Are little girls supposed to grow up believing that if they are out of line they deserve to be hit?

My one year old son is currently in daycare and my husband and I have decided to take him out and I will be staying home with him. I am also pregnant for my second child so we feel it is best that I stay home with both children. We really did like our daycare a lot and my son interacted well with the other children. My question is to other mothers out there - what are your opinions about staying home with kids versus daycare? My concern is that my son wont have that interaction with the kids, so I worry about him missing daycare. I am going to look into joining some kind of stay at home mom groups to give my son that interaction with other children, but not sure if it will be the same.
