of Satan?

Personally, I think that most children who are delinquents or troublemakers are that way because of bad parenting. I know there are some certain exceptions, though, such as in the case of mental illness. Can anyone shed some thoughts on this?

deleted in a steady stream? Some people ask unimportant questions and never get deleted, and brag about that. Meanwhile, children are treated like second-class citizens and denied the opportunity to seek the truth when information is deleted. An idea starts with one person and becomes a majority popular idea only when others are allowed to consider it. Children are not senseless idiots though many treat them that way.

Why, when your in the store and.....your child throws a tantrum, and you are ignoring your child, cause if you baby the kid, they think it's ok, to do it all the time) why do people point and look at you like you are the evil mom?

I had this grumpy lady tell me (in front of my kid) to give her what she wants. I wanted to slug her, lucky for her, I was grown up with better morals then that.

My 16 year old daughter wanted to go out the other night with a 19 year old guy. She said he was "nice" and that we'd like him. I said "no" that a 19 year old guy doesn't go out with girls just because they are nice girls...rather, he is eventually gonna want to get in her pants. I'm not saying this is the perfect way to handle this, but I did want to get other people's thoughts on what else I coudl have done? Thanks!

or do you think that Christmas should be just for the kids?

Love my daughter, she is only 2. Occasionally she infuriates me ( as all 2 year olds can!)

I dont advocate shouting, but sometimes it just comes out. I dont really smack her, i mostly put her in naughty corner for 3 minutes. But I do occasionally shout at her when she does things that i have repeatedly told her not to do.

Am i a bad parent? Do I need help with parenting? Or do all parents occasionally shout at their children/lose their tempers? Its just that i read a question on here today which more or less indicated that parents that shout arent fit to be parents.

Am i an unfit mother? Please be honest. Thanks

I'm especially interested in answers from the guys who thought they'd never want kids and changed their minds. How old were you and what do you think made you change your mind? Did it happen quick or slowly? Do you have kids now and, if so, are you happy you changed your mind?

a friend of mine has a 10 month old son she recently confessed to me that she lied to everyone about who the father was and that it was actually her ex as appose to a one night stand she told everyone about.
she had the perfect opportunely to tell the guy he was a father a few weeks ago but she clammed up and couldn't tell him.
she is not a bad person, the guy is a jerk he treated her badly and now lives a few hundred miles away and i don't even know if he would be too interested with the child anyway.
but i worry that my friend is making the wrong decision not telling him, her little boy needs a father and even though the guy is a total jerk he still has the right to know he has a son, i know my friend doesn't want to tell him because she doesn't want to stress of having to deal with this guy being back in her life. how can i convince her she needs to tell him that he has a son.

I just bought a bunch of cartoons on DVD. I picked some that I know my nephews like such as Dora, Barney, and Sponge Bob. What else do kids like and does it differ as they grow a bit older?

My baby is almost 5weeks old now and I have a toddler who is 2 in 3weeks time. The thing is I cant seem to stop the urge to cry, it just comes over me at various times of the day and it is so hard to stop it. I cant seem to relax either, I feel constantly uptight and on edge and I have a constant headache because of it. I am feeling so low and desperate for something, but I dont know what, its driving me crazy! What is wrong with me?

What say you?

We live in Omaha, and were suposed to be at the mall when it got shot up, but my 3 year old was fussing so we turned around and went home. She probably saved our lives. Well, my five year olds friends have been talking about it at school and my daughter is now coming home asking questions, like why is the flag half way up the pole, who died, what were there names. Why did this guy do this. and more.

I don't know how to explain it to her. We have been telling her we will discuss after your baby sister goes to bed. And forgetting to do it, or hoping she forgets, but she is not and I am not sure how to talk to her about it, but my husband said this morning we have to sit down tonight and talk about it with her.

How would you explain it.

I have had many good answers so far to the original question but it leads to another one. Having young children in school, I decided to become a sub to be able to be there for my kids. My issue is how many teachers/para/cafe workers I saw screaming at the kids. Even the pre k para would yell at them in a manner that if it were my child, there would be a problem. I have seen several cafe workers scream directly in the ears of some children and others workers not say a thing. This was a daily problem. Should I report these people? It seems that every time that I try to bring to attention these things, it is turned around and I'm the weird outsider. Or I am making a big deal out of something. I tried to use a different behavior and approach and the workers saw that my way was working and they seemed to stop yelling, but I'm gone now and their behavior is probably back to before. Also, every school I worked at had at least 1 screamer. Every parent: have lunch w/kids.

I read a question on this and some people were saying not to use wipes if they're just wet, but that's gross! That leaves the urine sticking to their skin, what do you think?

Last year he was in a special needs class as he has a speech delay. However, by October he was showing severe stress signs that he was unable to handle the environment and I took him out. This was a voluntary program and he received speech at a private office after. This year he is in a regular prek class in the school and receives speech at school but he is now crying at night and in the morning saying he does not want to go to school. He is super smart (he can already do simple addition and spelling) and behaves very well at school even receiving a school award for being super in class. He has a sibling in a close room and sees neighbor kids during the day. He tells me the teachers yell but in my experience all teachers probably do at some point especially in the younger ages. My idea is that he is probably not comfortable here as he follows the rules and would rather just learn and play then cause problems and get in trouble which is what I see the other kids doing. takeout??

In your family, do you always let your children have dessert after dinner? I have a 6 year old that is obsessed with food. She plans out what sweets she will have after dinner and talks about food constantly. This bothers me. My husband's family has always thought dessert for children was a requirement after dinner, I always disagreed. My daughter's attitude towards food has proven my worries to be true. I'm thinking about stopping dessert after dinner all together unless I bake something special with my daughter or special occasions. I have a 1 year old son who I want to raise in a healthier fashion and he's always watching what the older child gets after dinner. I'd like to stop this focus on food. I'm worried that my son will be the same way. How do you do it in your family? I've always argued with my husband about this and now that I've seen the way my daughter is with food, I'd like to put my foot down and create a healthier focus. Please let me know you do things. :)
