Well, when i was growing up, I listened to both my parents, but I took my dad a little more seriously...He was the one who doled out the harsher punishments and stuff, and I didn't want one of those.

It could be how you are handling them, how you are presenting yourself. Their father should be backing you up because maybe he is undermining you. I'm sure if he is that he's not doing it purposely. He may not realize that he is. If you want things to change then you might need to meet with the father and discuss. You guys should be on board together as far as rules, etc go. Do you yell at your kids? You might need to stop because kids usually stop listening if you do.

Well, speaking as the oldest child of nine, I would have to say that children listen to their dad more because he has a more authoritarian voice. His voice is deeper than yours. I t can scare little children.

my experience has been that Mothers will threaten punishment time after time after time, but never follow through and the child continues to do whatever.
Dads , warn the child once to stop and then takes action if he doesn't. as a result the child learns Dad means what he says, Mom doesn't

Dads have a way of using a tone that means business whereas moms don't usually sound as mean when they are trying to tell them something.

It's normal. The dad is usually bigger, deeper voice. Maybe he's the "Big Gun" reserved for more serious punishments.

Probably because they are afraid of him. My kids sometimes listen more to their father than me because if my husband raises his voice they will listen. Or maybe are you to soft on them?
