My second was 27 months behind my first.
My third was 14 years behind my second.
Pros of 27 mos difference: they are very close to each other and can understand each other, the older can help the younger with homework/school advice, their friends are basically from the same set of kids (we live in a small-ish town)
Cons of 27 mos difference: I was stressed out with 2 little ones
Pros of 14 years: the little one thinks the older 2 walk on water, they think he's fun, they can help me when I need it (I get a break, they make $$, the baby is cared for by someone who loves him), brought my daughter and I very close cuz I was very open about changes in my body during the pregnancy, the older ones see that a child is a lot of hard work and don't want one for a long time, I get to see all the fun stuff again with the wisdom of experience and a few more years under my belt
Cons of 14 years: I thought I would have my 40s and beyond to myself, I'll be raising the baby...but I'm OK with that, some might not be

I have an 11 year old boy born 10/21/96, and three daughters born 9/1/98 ,9/1/99, and my fourth 6/5/07. My 2nd and 3rd are born on the same day a year apart. My 1st and second are 22 months apart and my fourth is almost 8 years different from my 3rd. Did you get all that?-lol My kids are 11, 9, 8 years old and 6 months old.

I have 2 - 17 months apart.
Now: Son is 7 and daughter is 5 almost 6.
Pros- always have a playmate. When they were little..we potty trained them almost the same time (my boy took longer). My son was young enough not to be jealous when my daughter was born. Now they both have mutual friends in school and in the neighborhood. My son is starting to "look out" for my daughter in school..it's kind of cute.
Cons - They're like twins..not that that is bad, but my daughter is always just behind my son in doing things...like school related - Kindergarten last year, Kindergarten this year..It's not spread out. I worry about my daughter feeling like she is in her brothers shadow - even though we don't make her feel that way. They're starting to fight a lot more now...I just said to my hubby today - that it may be a sign of things to come when they are teenagers! Also, I did feel like I didn't have enough time with my son by himself before I had my daughter, but it all has worked out wonderfully.
I do like having my children close. They'll always have a friend there for them. I grew up very close to my younger brother (3 yrs younger than me) and we are still close now at 27 and 30. I want and hope that my children will have that type of relation ship with each other when they get older. My husband has a 4 and 7 year spread between his older sister and brother and they're not close at all. He used to get blamed for a lot as a kid and picked on a lot by the older ones.
I wouldn't change the age differences between my kids.

My first 2 boys are 7 minutes apart. I couldn't help that much!! LOL!!
It was tough work to begin with, but being my first kids I knew no better. Now they are 2 I find things are heaps easier.
I due to give birth in May 08. The boys will be 2 still, 3 in September.
We made the decision to have at least 2 years apart, because I had my hands full with my boys!!

I have 3, first and second are 22 months apart, second and 3rd are 26 months apart. So it's about 4 years between my first and 3rd... I like that I did it this way most the time, unless I want to sleep or something, lol, then I think about where I screwed up.. jk I love it! I was 7 years apart from my sis so I like that my kids play together and are friends, it's what i wanted growing up.

well i only have one child, but me and my brother were 6 1/2 years apart, the pro's were we still grew up very close to each other, and he was a lot older to handle a lot of different things, and when my mom passed away i was only 14 but he was 20 and was able to get custody of me since our father isn't in our lifes... the cons were i would always want to be up his butt growing up and there were a lot of times he couldn't handle it lol
my sister as three kids and they are 7, 5, and 3... they all are very close, but seem to fight over a lot of their toys and things like that because they all share a lot of the same things, it also seems like sometimes they feel they are fighting for attention from mommy and daddy but i think the biggest reason for that is there are only 2 parents and 3 kids and one can only do so much

I don't have any kids yet, but my siblings and I are 8 and 11 years apart. The pros are; my mom always had a free babysitter, someone to bathe, feed and change diapers (besides herself). The cons are; no one to play with, just when you think you are done with high school you look back and see that you have two younger ones still in elementary school and never being done with school shopping.

I also have 2 daugthers. They are 3 years, 4 months apart.
Sometimes I wish they were farther apart, but I love having little kids.

I have three daughters - 26, 13, 11. There is a big age difference between the oldest and her two sisters; we had a bit of trouble conceiving for a while.
XOXO,
Laurie
