Don't you think you are doing more harm than good? Do you actually think you know better than the parent? Did you know that spanking is NOT illegal?

I am not talking about parents that physically beat their children to a pulp. I am talking about the parents that spank their children for misbehaving.

I am so sick of people saying that they call the cops when they see children being punished.

he kept running off then when he finally came back he decided to pull faces at me.i told him off three times and made him sit on the chair
my son did but then got up and started pulling the chlothes off of the racks i told him off again, and he just told me to shut up.some women told me i should not have kids.i just ignored her, then my son threw all the chlothes on the floor.i took his hand and smacked it not hard but he cried.the next thing i know the police are there.and im being accused of child abuse.some women reported me .do you think its ok to smack a child on the hand?

to move out in Minnesota? My son has moved out and I don't know if I can really do anything. He will be 18 soon, but should that matter? He moved out 'cuz of a girl. We suspect she's pregnat, She just turned 16 and her parents have supported this relationship. They've allowed him to spend numerous weekends at their home and to stay there for 2 weeks. I'm at a lose and just don't understand how the other parents are ok with this.

I have seen the topic of blended families discused alot on here. One thing that I have noticed is that alot of people seem to think that when a stepparent doesnt get along with their stepchild, it is their fault because they are intruders into the childs life and that the stepchild is just an innocent victim of divorce. I have even seen some suggest that people with children under 18 shouldn't get remarried. Why is it so hard for people to realize that it isn't always the stepparents fault? Yes kids are kids, but that doesn't mean that they are stupid. Some stepkids deliberatly try to cause problems between their parent and stepparent. Think about the movie STEPMOM. That kind of stuff happens all the time. Shouldn't there come a point when someone says enough is enough, and stops letting stepkids get away with trying to destroy their parents new marriage? It shouldn't matter if its a stepparent, all adults deserve a certain amount of respect. So why don't stepparents deserve it?

On warning my 8 year old for misbehaving in public he continued to swing on the clothes rails...until one came down...... he recieved a short smack to the back of his leg and (yet another) lecture (much to the disapprovement of other shoppers).... One woman in particular made some snotty remark 'disgraceful'.........Are u embarrassed to discipline your kids in public..or do the kids need it to embarrass them into behaving?..

I'm 23 and I have an 8 year old brother that I pretty much raised. My mother isn't really a "mother figure", if you will. I raised myself and I dont want my little brother to do the same thing so I try to be as motherly as I possibly can be.
Anyhow, my question is, lately my little brother hads been asking me questions about girls and about where babies come from. He's going to be 9 soon and I know that alot of his friends already know about sex and probably talk about it.
He's very naive to it and I'm wondering what the right age to have "the talk" with him is. He's pretty comfortable around me so I know he wont be TOO embarressed but can any parents let me know what the right age for this talk is, and how do you approach it?
Thank you

I'm going to have it on the sunday right before her birthday, which is Mother's day. How can I easily let her know that the day is more about her than me? I would've it on saturday but family and friends are super busy that day. Also is it lame to celebrate two special days at once? She's going to be 3 but already knows what birthdays are.

Aren't there enough children in America that need adopting? What is the deal with the current trend of international adoption. Is it because celebs do it? Can someone explain? I would prefer if you didnt start your answers with America is the greatest country and we need to adopt children from other less fortunate countries. answers like that are the reason the world hates America

I am a little emotional over this because I raised him by myself thru turmoil you would not believe. I would rather he work, live at home, and get a college degree, but he has fallen head over hills for this girl and she is very nice from what I can see.
What can I do to help him? I already offered him my livingroom furniture since he doesnt own a dish towel much less furniture. It gives me an excuse to buy new stuff.
I am afraid the rent is too high. Also, how long is the standard apartment lease?

I'm 27 and have been married for 3 years. We both have very well paid jobs and would be able to give any child the best of everything.Problem is I don't like children and my husband knew that from the start. He told me he was more than willing to give up having children if it meant spending the rest of his life with me.We've taken every precaution possible to make sure we don't get pregant but here I am 6 weeks pregnant.I don't want this baby. It's going to ruin everything, all my hopes and dreams for the future going down the drain.I feel like I'm being punished. He told me that me aborting would be the one thing he would never be able to get past since he considers this baby a miracle. What happened to for better or worse? My parents and my best friend who's been trying to conceive for the last 5 years think I'm being incredibly selfish, but they're not the ones who'll have to deal with a screaming baby when it arrives. Why can't anyone accept my decision?
