I have never been married and my kids dad took off. All by ourselves, no child support. I dont' feel 'viewed' by my family as a true family unit. I also feel that they think that they are my kids family and have rights to behave how they want to me and my kids and I am obligated to them... I am the mother this is MY son. MY daughter. I call the shots. I know what is best for them.. Any other single moms' find that their family thinks that you NEED them and are incapable. The women think they can smother you with advise and guilt. The men think they are doing your kids a favor by 'toughing your kids up'? I finally moved away from my family and told them to smarten up.. and am now alone. No man. No family around... But at least I feel confident for once that WE are a family. They are MY kids... not part of that dysfunctional unit. Other single mom's feel less resepected as a family?

I am not trying to sell anything nor do I have ties with this company but I found an amazing product. My 3 1/2 year old daughter hates having her hair washed. She screams and cries and wants to get out, she hates the water in her eyes. I had tried lots of stuff, the visor (she pulls off), tipping back (refuses), laying down on her back in the water ( yeah right), the good old wash cloth over the eyes, goggles ( the cheap kind from Wal-Mart) but those let water in too. While shopping at a thrift store a few weeks ago I ran across some goggles new in the box, that looked pretty fancy, they had a $19.99 sporting goods store tag on them but I got them for $2.98. They offer 100% UVA and UVB protection, 180 degree visbility amd easy to adjust buckles like I have never seen before. They are watertight and fantastic! My daughter loves wearing them in the tub and lets me wash her hair with no fussing! Check them out they are amazing. http://www.aquasphereswim.com/ It is under Seal Kid Mask

I'm a Teacher in an elementary school--and I notice that MANY of the young girls ages 6 to 11 years old are having their hair Dyed Blond (from brunette), and many of them have blond streaks and highlights. The kids tell me their Moms are doing this.

I'm 30--so I guess their Parents are about my age & younger--but I dont understand why a Mom would do such a thing to a young daughter. When I was a kid, kids were expected to look and act like kids.

Isn't that too advanced? Are there no longer lines seperating adults from children anymore?
Is this teaching also young girls that blond is better?

Do you do this???--Please tell me WHY. I am a Teacher and I am very CURIOUS.

I'm about to turn 32, not seriously dating anyone at the moment.

I've never had a strong desire to have kids, though I've always had the vague idea that I would have them someday. Frankly, kids have always made me a little anxious, though they usually seem to like me.

So, my question is, what do you look for inside yourself to decide if you want children?

For several weeks my wife has been saying "I must get a new scrubbing brush next time I go to the shops", but has always forgotten. This morning my ten-year old son gave her one for Mother's Day all wrapped up in nice wrapping paper. She has gone wild and will not speak to any of us. What is wrong with her?

R. (11-year-old,pregnant in 7th month now) lives with me for 2 months already, after her father had abused her sexually(for more info, read my other question). Her belly is getting really big and she is very scared of the time when the labor will come. She's 11 and the delivery will definitely be a torture for her but how can I tell her that? What can I tell her to comfort her?She already has great difficulties moving and I have to help her,she sometimes has painless contractions(the ones every pregnant woman has during the last 3 months).I'm 22 and I don't have children and look at R. as she is my daughter. How can I help her not to be scared and what can I tell her?The delivery is going to torture her so much, she can die and I know it,but what can I tell her?I'm scared about her either and I love her very much!
P.S. she can't have Caeserean birth(I won't explain why but she just can't)

I asked initially when I had asked about the Nanny 911....Now, I did not start spanking my child until she was almost 3(she is 3 1/2 now). and this was after attempting time outs alone did not work and sending her to bed were also ineffective. Now, I am not saying that I spank her all the time....But if there is something she is doing that is dangerous (to herself or others) that telling her not to do does not work and removing her from the situation does not work,( ie playing on stairs-she goes right back up and continues her play, or running towards the road and then think it is funny even when you tell her that she can get seriously hurt, but she will go right on and do it again....) I am talking these kind of situations, people. Situations that you have tried other methods and those methods do not get through to your child!!! The day I gave her a few swats and made her stand in a corner were the turning point. I have rarely now had to ever spank her since then.

If you were 31 with a 5 year old child and you had the oportunity to take time out and travel overseas but postpone another baby till later, or have a baby first and maybe not be in the posistion to do travel a few years from now, what would you do? The third option is to travel and have the baby whilst overseas. This dosent sound too practical but can be done.
So what would you do and why? Keep in mind that the travel is considered important, thats why I`m asking the question.
