If you were 31 with a 5 year old child and you had the oportunity to take time out and travel overseas but postpone another baby till later, or have a baby first and maybe not be in the posistion to do travel a few years from now, what would you do? The third option is to travel and have the baby whilst overseas. This dosent sound too practical but can be done.
So what would you do and why? Keep in mind that the travel is considered important, thats why I`m asking the question.

Well, since you said the travel is important and I am assuming it cannot wait, I would have the child overseas. I think this b/c you are approaching the age of 35 (the age you are considered old in the obgyn world). I wouldn't want to have a high risk pregnancy b/c I put traveling first. I also wouldn't want my kids that far apart. Now if traveling could wait. I would say have a kid now b/c you already have a 5yr old, raise your kids and then travel all you want when they are out of the house, or when they get older or you could fit a few places in over time on their vacation breaks. If you had no kids, I would say travel, travel, travel and take your chances w/ the pregnancy.

Definitely travel. The 5 year old will learn so much and will be a pleasure to travel with as the world through a child's eyes is really a special place and sometimes so different to what we see. If you decide on another child it may be better when you have stabilised. This could also fit in with the first child's secondary schooling as it is good to stay at one school when the child is a teenager. A lot depends on how both of you feel and perhaps after travelling a larger family may not be that important or it may be easier as you will be wiser parents.

Is there a reason why you couldn't travel for a bit--get pregnant--come back and deliver the child wherever you want to--and then resume your travels with your child? Since you are into travelling, what would be the harm in traveling until the 6th-7th month of pregnancy(they don't recommend travel after that I think--air travel I mean, without a doctor's permit)--taking a break and waiting till your infant baby is a month or two and continuing..if you breastfeed your child you can go anywhere--I was just talking about this to a friend of mine--breastfeeding a child gives it so much immunity--their immune systems are so strong--because they are getting antibodies from you, etc...you are able to travel EVERYWHERE with far fewer concerns than parents who bottle feed their babies...So--I'd say--Family goals are important--don't deny that or put it off--but you can travel too--why not both?...

as long as you can take the five yr old i say go. wait to have another child because if you choose to have the child and put your travel off and you never get to go again for whatever reason whether you want to admit it or not and will have negative impact on your relationship with your child but i would still have the child while at home so you recieve the proper care from the same dr for the whole pregnancy and delivery

mid 30s arent old anymore women are having babies later and later in life all the time without complications

What a wonderful story to tell you one child about how you had them over seas.

I would travel. But I would want to conceive a baby while there.
