I agree that the media is jumping on these kidnapping stories more now than they ever did. As to agreeing that kids are getting kidnapped more now that before, I can't really say.

I do, it's terrible. Kids used to be able to go almost anywhere alone or with a friend and be fine but nowadays parents have to constantly be watching their kids

i do NOT agree. kids are safer now than they were 100 years ago.
and, statistics show that kids are safer with a stranger than their own parents (fathers are the most dangerous, mothers next).
aren't statistics great!? :)

I don't think its any worse than it has been... the media is just blowing it out of proportion.
