I am considering doing child care in my home. Basically thinking of doing before and after care for elementary school ages. How would I go about getting certified and licensed in CA? Is there any online classes I could take?

My 15 year old son has been having sex with his girlfriend which I have already tried to talk to him about....they are both really good kids and don't normally do anything wrong but I am concerened because I overheard him talking to his 15 year old girlfriend and she said she was pregnant..... how am I supposed to handle the situation????? We are currently taking care of her because her parents just died in a car accident while they were on vacation and she has been getting sick from what me and my wife have heard and my wife said that when she was doing my sons laundry that his sheets were blood stained really bad......what do I do????? They haven't come forth and told us she is pregnant but my wife really thinks so and we don't know but she possibly might be living with us until she is old enough to get a job and a house.

My daughter spends half of her nights with her mother. I was informed tonight that her mother has bought her an electric razor...This is an issue we have discussed before. I do not think her legs need to be shaved (not hairy +are blond hairs). I also have a problem with the age issue. Her mother also said that she ( the mom ) is going to get breast implants this Friday and that her and my daughter have watched "all about the process" on Doc 9021something....I held my tounge. It is none of my business how her mother changes her own body. It is very important though that she is not teaching my girl that these are the things that make a woman beautiful.Backtrack - when the leg thing first came up my daughter said that no one was making fun of them, she just wanted the hair gone.Fastforward - I am concerned that the wrong message is getting planted into my daughter head. Maybe on the leg thing she is trying to mimic what she sees. Advice on building self esteem vs. moms lack of.

I have three kids. The younger two scream A LOT! They are two and three years old. They fight and throw tantrums. I see other kids that dont do this. Swatting their bottoms doesnt help a whole lot. Putting my three year old in time out helps some but the two year old just gets up no matter how many times I put him down. What is an effective way to discipline my little screamers??

I have a 5 year old niece who is now living with me. When she came to me, she had head lice. I also have a 6 year old daughter. Both girls are in day care and elementary school. I have tried everything in the world to get rid of this lice but it keeps coming back. I've tried the over the counter lice shampoos, hair grease, olive oil, mayonaise, hairspray, prell shampoo...anything anyone has told me. I've combed until my arm is ready to fall off. I've bagged up all the stuffed animals and washed all the bedclothes including pillows in extemely hot water. I've vaccumed the furniture and carpet. It keeps coming back over and over again. I've just switched jobs and cannot possibly miss work time and I have no insurance as I work as a temp and lice medication from the doctor is 125 dollars for a bottle that will only do one head. Does anyone know anything else I can try? Please I am desperate!!

We can not choose to be born. Many people hate life, choose not to live any longer, and kill themselves. Do potential mothers give any thought to the fact that the child they are carrying into this world may not have wanted to be born? In that sense, isn't motherhood a selfish act? Mothers typically do not think in these terms and have children because of their biological clock, as a means to express love with a significant other, etc. As touching as some answers may seem, isn't motherhood a selfish act by default since you are forcing a child to be born that may not want to be born?

Like baby showers, births, birthday parties, etc...My Sister in law is about to have her first child. I would like to be involve with the child since I will be it's Aunt. My OWN family says if they don't care about my children why should I care about their children and their events. Is this what I should do? Return the rude behavior? They once said my family is really good at just having babies all the time. It's my husband's stepmom who said that. I have only two, and my sister has two..What on earth does that mean? My children are the only grandchildren in my husband's whole family so there is no excuse of having other Grandchildren to play with. My godmother having no blood relationship to me or my children send gifts and cards to my children, and I don't even receive a call from my sister in law or brother in law...I know they don't have to do it, but...they are family? What happened to family values?

my 2 neices have lived with us for the last 6 and half years. their mum was on drugs, they each have their own dad. when the girls first came everyone said they would support me as i brought them up. over the years they have all opted out . the girls mum rarely kept in touch until last year when she wanted access to them again. the youngest childs dad visited until 3 years ago. at the start we gave him a key to our home and he visited whenever he liked, things gradually started to deteriate, he used to tell them how mummy puts needles in her arms (youngest aged 4 at the time), that she had been locked in a room until she came off drugs, that sort of thing.when i would try to speak to him about it he would be ok, but then tell the kids how nasty i was to him! this confused the girls very much and it finally came to a head, we argued and he started picking the girls up at the door. eventualy he stopped contact altogether until mum has come back on the scene and now he's started again!

This is something that has irked me for awhile now. Why do some irresponsible parents drag their children into bars? Especially ones with waitresses who are dressed inappropriately? Places like Hooters and The Library (in Tempe, Arizona). What sort of message does this send the next generation? That we should be praising consumption of alchol and oogling at good looking women?

For some reason this just irritates me. Any comments welcome.

And if I told you I had my first daughter at 16 would you especially assume I was a neglectful parent perhaps?

I often wonder.

Well let me fill you in. I have 3 girls, married for 10 years, I am a homeowner, college educated and I have been a stay at home more for the last 6 years, I have been Serving as 1st VP of Memberships on my daughters elementary school PTA Board and Volunteering 3 days a week in all of their classrooms. I am very much a present parent but often find my self insecure in the fact that possibly the very idea of having children so young always carries a stigma....thus my obvious over acheaving.

What are some of your initial opinons or judments of a young mother and can any of your perceptions be changed?

I work at a day spa and give massages. So, one night my 4 year old Rylan says to me "give me a massage, and rub me as good as you rub daddy" oh boy it was embarrassingly funny

Last fall, I got in trouble for mooning, but (pun intended), I am just itching to do it again, because there is a cute boy I like. What would you do if your 16 year old daughter had her second mooning offense at school? I am just trying to predict my daddy's reaction as well. Thank you and good day.

I have a feeling that my son may be in a gang because of the way him and his friends act. I want to ask him, but I'm afraid he'll deny it if he IS, or if he's not, feel insulted that I would ask him a question like that. What are some signs that he is associating with the wrong crowd? He refuses to wear blue and red.
