I have also heard that it is healthier for kids to have parents that finished high school. The basic idea is that if the children are exposed to certain types of bacteria while they are young their immune system will build anti-bodies to protect them against the same bacteria later in life. This is why entire populations of Native Americans were wiped out by diseases brought over from Europe that the Europeans considered to be not much more than an neusance. That is also why it is important for infants to breast feed because they get several antigens (virus fighting stuff) from the immune system of their mother. Eating off the floor, probably not a great way to solve this problem though. However, letting your kid play in the dirt and not freaking out about them getting dirty, probably a better way to go.

you're fiance is a bleeding bampot
you are an even worse one for even considering this proposterous idea
yes i understand the concept of it
but seeing as how infected and diseased the world is today
it is less likely for that idea to work
you can catch a disease just by breathing the bloody air
so i doubt it'll do you any better to eat off of the floor or ground
and i agree with some of these responses
it's "that" not "dat"
i never understood that need to speak such bad grammar
american slang baffles me
drives me barking mad
but anywho
that's all i have to say bout this

If food fall on the round even for a second it already been contaminated by germs, However, the counters in the kitchen have germs too. But imagine this, people walk in your floors, coming from the outside where people spit in the ground and animals do their necessities, so hmm, would u eat the germs from the counter or the germs from the floor? But in the other hand, little kids put dirt and everything reachable in their mouths so, does it matters? I think is totally up to you, later in life if the kids are use to picking up food from the floor and eating it, it might look gross in front of other people... I know my kids let candy and chips fall in the floor and they quickly pick them up and say what ever kills you wont make you fat! lol, they are silly...

I heard that too. Here's the deal: Yes it is gross and all, but it helps boost immunity to some illnesses. If something gets dropped on the ground, it isnt going to kill anyone to pick it up, dust it off, and continue on their way. Not a terrific thing to do if you are in public though, because of other things they might catch that COULD harm them. Use your judgement. Eating something dropped on the floor at home- most likely ok. Eating something dropped on the ground at the park- probably not so good.

Don't let you kid(s) do that. The news is always talking about something preventing something else. Then they will come out with a new study saying it doesn't. It only takes a few seconds for the germs to get on the food. Even more so if it is something wet like fruit, lunch meat, etc...

What they meant is that you shouldn't be overcareful with your kids. Do clean your house and wash your hands when you go home, or when you've touched something dirty, but don't overdo it. If they play n the dirt, it's find, it's not going to kill them!
Also, if your kid is sick, a good think to try is homeopathy because it helps the body to fight diseases on its own, instead of having something foreign kill it. If you decide to do that, please go to a specialist, someone who has been trained for that. Of course, if it goes really bad, take your kid to a regular doctor, but for small ilnesses (cough, cold, etc.), it's good to use as little medicine as possible. You can even try it yourself!

The idea is similar to the idea behind vaccines. If the immune system is exposed to small amounts of a germ, it come build immunity to that germ. If you are never exposed to germs, you never build immunity. I doubt they actually recommend eating of the ground. They probably just said not to overreact if kids do so.

Their immune systems are young and reasonably strong, so yeah, that could be true. But it's not like anyone should be eating off their floors any time soon.
