When you walk into a restaurant why do the people ask Smoking or non smoking?

Are they just stupid, or do people really bring their children to the smoking section?

Some people really do bring their kids into a smoking section. My husband is a smoker and I am an ex smoker, we would NEVER let our kids sit in or near a smoking section. Thankfully most states are making it illegal to smoke in a public establishment.

Smoking is disgusting, and smelly, and bad for every ones health, a persons mouth becomes an ash tray. It is an intrusion on other peoples right to breath fresh air. Smoking has no redeaming value. People actually pay to do it. if that doesn't fit the definition of STUPID I don't know what does. Also I don't know what state you live in, but in California I do believe it is now against the law to smoke in a bar or restaurant

However why would you go to a restaurant that offers a smoking section anyhow? If they do the whole place is toxic anyhow, you can't get away from it by being a couple tables over unless they have some kind of wind barrier like when you go into Walmart, and I very much doubt anywhere has that.

Do yourself and your kids a favour and don't support establishments that offer smoking. It's bad for the patrons and bad for the staff.

No, the people arent stupid. People smoke around their children all the time. When I was working in the restaurant a lot of people with their children would say smoking. I dont see why u had to post that question.

I live in Ohio so no place is smoking anymore. Even bars are no smoking. It is really stupid to smoke around children - your right. But people do it ALL the time.

People really ARE stupid and I've actually seen kids in smoking sections because their parents feel the need to be selfish and smoke. Sad, but oh so true. Gee, what good role models those adults are to the younger society....

Are you kidding? are there still states that allow smoking in a restaurant? Here in Cali, some cities won't allow smoking in outdoor areas and even if you live in an apartment with common walls with other tenants. I know plenty of people who smoke in their cars with the windows down--their kids in the back seat. Gee whiz--thats how I got addicted in the first place.
