I'm just curious about what you think about this: a friend of mine told me that she found out her brother, age 19, was kicked out of the home just because her parents does not like his friends. Is that so wrong of them to do that?

Ok, You all have missed the point. However I don't think the children should have to suffer either. But there are other ways to support the children than give her the money. Such as: making it a law for the innocent parent to provide full coverage insurance for the children as far as dental and medical. And if the parent has any sense they should be buying their children school school clothes, supplies and the extras that child needs. As for all your ugly comments I didn't steal anyones husband. I am a child of a dead beat father who I didn't see or know. But rather than my mother get money to help support her other husband and family, cause theres no guarantee I would of got a penny of it, as so many other children will agree paying the phone bill didn't buy me a pair of shoes.......oh but that was to help pay for your support.... Ok .. I just think things need to be done differently. How many children out there actually even see or even know about the child support? I didn't.

I think every child that is born needs a parternity test before women are able to seek child support....

Everytime we eat, she always tries to put little pieces of food in her ears. She is always just so playful. It's cute but I don't want her to do it because I don't want anything to get stuck in her ears.

Any suggestions on how to get her to stop? We always tell her "no" and stop her before she does it but she still tries (or actually succeeds when our backs are turned).

My Mom takes care of my 4 year old niece and 19 month old nephew everyday. My mom has had 3 children and she is suppose to be a Grandmother, not the mother of my niece and nephew. My sister still lives at home with my mom living a rent free life, she doesn't even pay for the food for the children. My mom doesn't get a single cent from my sister and her bills seem to get higher and higher every month. My sister doesn't even bathe her own children or wash their clothes. What can I say or do to make my mom stand up for herself and tell my sister to take care of her own children!!!!

I let my sister borrow my car for a couple of hours because hers was in the shop and she promised nothing would happen. My niece is 4 and my nephew almost 20 months. Well, My bad sister left her children in the car and my niece un buckled her seat belt and my nephew's as well and destroyed toys that my son had, lost some of his thomas trains by throwing them out of the window, they found a small stash of formula I keep just in case that I replace every month and poured 10 oz of formula all over my car. They ruined my son and daughter's coat. I know it's my fault for letting her borrow the car, but she didn't even say sorry about the car or thank you for borrowing it. It's a brand new luxury car with leather seats. My niece destroyed my bose speakers by spilling juice on it.What should I do or say?

...when there are so many things out there that we should be more concerned about. One thing is, drug use amoung teenagers, which I believe is a contributing factor to MANY teen pregnancies( but not all). And not only teens that "willingly" do drugs, but others that are forced to do so, by either being drugged at parties, or peer pressure. Sure, there are many teens out there having children, but I know that the numbers for teen drug abuse are way higher. So why are we concentrating so much on teen pregnancy/parenthood, when there is a far more important problem that is in more need of a solution!? It drives me crazy reading stories about all the so called stupid teens who messed up their lives by having a baby!!! WELL AT LEAST THEY STILL HAVE A LIFE!!! Drugs TAKE lives...Drugs ruin the children that we raise. It turns them into people they are not. Don't you agree that drugs and alcohol are really what is plaguing today's teens?

I'm worried that my son is feeling insecure, self-concious and depressed because he is not well endowed. My son is 9 and he has repeatedly brought up issues concerning his penis. Maybe because other boys have teased him. But at his age I feel it should be of no concern, but if he's already having issues with it now I'm worried he will have deep psychological issues when he gets older. I'm worried he will have trouble talking to women, etc. I have not seen his penis since he was a toddler so I don't know what the situation with it is now, but the last time I saw it it was quite small. I never thought anything of it because I'm his mom and not his girlfriend, but him bringing the issue up recently made me start to think. I am a single mother so I can't ask his father to talk to him about this. What should I do? Should I just ignore him and tell him he's fine? Should I consult a therapist? Should I take him to a pediatrician to have it checked? I can't imagine asking him to show it to me

Man, does that irritate me. When my daughter was still in diapers, I got a lecture from a co-worker (no kids but "I have nieces and nephews") on how bad it was to use disposable diapers and a "good parent" would use cloth diapers and wash them. My wife had a childless co-worker (again with "nieces and nephews") go on at length about what a lazy parent she (my wife) is because we had child-proof doorknobs, a gate across the stairs, etc. and a "good parent" would be attentive enough and not need to child-proof everything, that's just being lazy. Grrr! Does this happen to other people too, or are my wife and I being singled out?

If so, why? This is a question, not a judgment. I asked yesterday whether I had a right to try to syop my wife from having sex and having her boyfriend spend the night when she has the kids ( half the month, which means that she can, and should, boink all that she wants during the other half.) In parenting, the majority thought that I did have a right ( as does my lawyer) . In Marriage and Divorce, the majority said that she can do what she wants.

I have a 10-month-old daughter and the man I'm seeing I've been friends with for over 2 years. I remember talking with him 4-5 months back about children. He said he doesn't want any kids (which I think is funny...sometimes I wonder why he chose to date me!) and that he doesn't think he'd be able to handle the responsibility of them. That being said when we started our relationship, I told him straight out I expected nothing from him with regard to my daughter--I would put no responsibility on him, she's mine to raise and that all I want is for him to be her friend as she grows up, and that it's up to him if he wants to be more than that.

Recently he's been playing more with my daughter, interacting with her more and being silly with her, something he's never attempted before. It's really cute, and I'd hate to say it but it's got me a little hopeful that maybe someday she'll view him as a mentor or a father figure.

My question is, what do you think he's doing and thinking?

You know those hugemongous carts that look like cars and buses and whatnot, well my daughter...3 1/2 was standing by the cart waiting for me to reach her (i am pregnant and not moving as quickly anymore) when a girl about 6 yrs old came running up to her, pushed her out of the way and climbed into the cart. The girls mother said,

"oh, I'm sorry did your daughter want that cart? Maybe next time," and went on her way.

I told my daughter that I was so happy that she was not rude like that other little girl, and that if something like that ever happened that I know she would not push people to get what she wanted. She said,

"of course I wouldn't mommy," and then everytime we saw the "others" in the store my daughter would say super loudly,

"theres that rude little girl who stole my cart!"

My sister is on the child neglect list for the children she has now. She doesn't see her children all day because she chooses not to. She told my mom that she is picking baby names like jermanie and carolina. She has only been with this guy for 6 months. My mom is the primary caregiver (not legally) for the children. It's like my mom is the mom and my sister a distant grandmom. What can I do? Or what can I say to her?

My whole inlaw family drinks, My husband's grandfather died of alcohol poisoning, and they showed my husband at a young age that drinking was okay. They told me a story that they didn't have formula for their son so they gave him beer when they were on a car trip! I have two small children and my step mother in law always has a wine glass in her hand, My husband's grandmother does too, They drink crown royal, wild turkey, and other hard drinks. I'm afraid that when my 2 year old and 11 month old grow up they will see that drinking is okay because their family does it. How can I shield them from this? I just can't cut our children off cold turkey from their family. They live 15 to 20 mins away. My husband is 24 years old and if he gets a drink they will put him down because he is drinking their alcohol. It's very weird, what to do?

My daughter is 18 months old and I've just started potty training a little while ago. Or I've tried to start potty training. The problem is she seems scared of her potty for some reason. I've tried showing her how to do it, I've tried luring her with toys, I've even tried putting it in front of the TV. I know she won't be potty trained for a while but I at least want to get her used to sitting on her potty. She'll only sit on it if the lids down and her diaper is on. Any ideas?

In their elementary school, they try to see how far they can dangle spit over each other's faces. Eventually, they drop saliva on like at least 10 or 15 people a day. Teachers find it hillarious and don't do anything... Board members take it as a joke. What can we do?
