I just thought of a few more.

Of course, I would include John 3:16 in there, because that is the basis of Christianity.

And Luke 6:31 really encompasses everything that we are taught regarding how to behave towards others.

I would also include:
Matthew 22:37 OR Mark 12:30-31 (love the Lord)
Luke 6:27 (love your enemies)
Matthew 7:1 (don't judge others)
Philippians 4:13 (I can do all things through Him who gives me strength)
Proverbs 3:5-6 (trust in God)
...and I'm not sure what else, but there's so much! If the child is already old enough to be entering college, I would try to hand-pick some according to whatever that child needs.

Obviously, you'll teach your child more than 10 verses. And, I'm guessing you want people that believe in the Bible to answer. Why do people have to be so rude????

Here's 1 that I like and think is applicable to life:
Revelation Chapter 22 verse 14 says: "Blessed are they that do his commandments , that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city."

It causes me to wonder if I am consistently and faithfully seeking to do God’s will in my life.

For college, I would recommend studying the parables in depth, particularly the ones regarding promises and contracts.

For life, I recommend as follows:

John 14:27

Matt.11:28

Psalms 100:3

Romans 3:23

John 11:25

Romans 8:31, 28, 18

James 5:13

Isaiah 40:31

Joshua1:9

wow. you can not prepare your child for the rest of their lives from a bible verse. Nothing can prepare them. And dont shelter your child and read them all those stupid bible verses. Let them have a brain of their own.

Psalms 112:4 Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for the gracious and compassionate and righteous man.

ISA 12:2 Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation."

how about this...y don't u just teach them about life and how to survive in it successfully instead relying on something or someone else to do it for you.

10 Bible verses R NOT good tool to give a child and them shove them out into the world with only those 10 verses...seriously.

Just one from me . "When I was a child I thought like a child, I acted like a child, when I became a man I put away childish things" ------------My mom told me that years ago and I have never forgotten it.
