This weekend hubby and I went shopping and I spent most of the journey home pontificating about parental responsibility with reference to a young girl's attire (she was out with her parents) who had been walking in front of us on the way back to the car.

She couldn't have been more than 10 and had a bottom scraping mini-skirt, tights, nearly knee high, heeled(a good 2") cowboy boots, a belly showing top and a semi-fitted cropped jacket on.

I have a daughter and while it will be a few years yet it will also be a cold day in hell when she steps out the house looking like that under 18.
And even then she'll have to get past her Dad!

true or false?

I run a homedaycare and have a few of my own children. I am an amazing caregiver however my problem is I don't care for myself the way that I should. Meaning, I often live on Coffee and Slim Fast while these kids get homecooked meals and fruits and veggies. I am always on the go. Now, I want to get myself a gym membership, but feel that the money should go for food for the kids, and what not.... why am I being so unreasonable.

my brother and i broke into our dads cabinet in the garage and spilled a bottle of something on the garage floor. we tried to clean it up but our mom found out. it smelled really bad and i'm not sure what it was. once she found out she sent us to our room. she told my brother he was getting spanked later and that i was grounded. i have to share a room with my brother. when my dad got home from work he came up, opened our door and told us both of us about how dangerous it was. he then grabbed my brother, yanked down his shorts and underwear and spanked him. i kind of laughed at him when he was getting it. after my dad got done something bad happened. he grabbed me and did the same thing to me. i couldn't do anything and i cried to. my brother is in 3rd grade and i'm in 7th. i can understand why my borther got spanked but i am way to old. i thought i was going to be grounded i think this is way unfair. what can i do?

I read this disturbing article on yahoo news this morning (and sadly it was no surprise as this is obvious to all):

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/070220/national/problem_children

"The studies looked at poverty, peers, parenting, schooling, media, personality, genetics and communities.".....and basically they are all to blame.

If this is the case, what can be done to counteract this?

My 14 year olds will be visiting their grandparents in Florida over Feb. vacation ( no parent with them) and I know that sometimes a Hospital or Dr. might need parental permission to treat them in case of an emergecy. I have been told the parent should send a permission letter with them. Has anyone done this before and what should it say. Hopefully nothing happens but I am just covering all the bases. Obviously their grandparents aren't the legal gudians and I would assume they could not OK an operation or something extreme.

My parents still think it's good that insulting is the best way to dicipline kids.I think one of the reasons why because my dad says im disrespectful because just awhile ago i was talking about my school work. He was talking to me about how i forget alot. i thought he said if i was his daughter and then forget about him, he wouldnt mind. Then i said ''that didnt make sense''. he got angry and called me a crazy girl. Anyway, can you help me talk to my dad so i dont make him angry all the time.

So I am considering a job with a family in the area as a housekeeper. The pay is pretty good - $250 a week for 25 hours of work but the wife has some strange requests
- she wants me to wear a uniform black dress and pantyhose
- she wants me to serve her and her friends at their weekly get together, I think she is showing me off
- she asked if I knew how to do nails

I get the impression that she is a bit of snob, but I have nothing to go with. What should I do?

I stay at home and help take care of my paralized husband. We have a 3yr. old boy and he gets to the point where he drives me up the wall when I'm trying to do my daily routine with helping out my husband. Plus I mean, he's a 3 yr. old (you moms have gotta know what i'm talking about)! My parents are in love with there first grandchild and they spoil him to death. They offer to watch him 4-5 hours everyday and we take them up on the offer. However, our son is obssesed with his grandpa. I feel like he loves him more than me. He ALWAYS wants to go to papa's, even when he just gets home from papa's. I love the break everyday, but I want him to want 2 be at home with his family. I can't take him away from his grandparents cuz not only would my son freak out, but my dad whould have a heart attack. Is it wrong that he sees them everyday? Should I be concerned about how attached he is 2 his papa? I know he is supposed 2 love his grandparents but, am I supposed 2 feel like he wants them more?

I have 2 kids (ages 4 and 7) and am not working (currently looking), I used to be this active happy go lucky mom and lately I don't even want to hear or see my kids, I'm so upset that its taking me forever to get a job after so many "great" interviews, but worse my kids are CONSTANTLY calling me and needing something that I always feel like i want to fall asleep until morning. I wake up early, am a slave to my children while my husband works, i'm bored, looking for a job almost everyday and I don't see the silver lining.....my kids notice the change b/c normally they see me doing arts and crafts w/them or reading and now i swear I just want to drop them off at my moms house for 2 days straight!!! that's impossible unfortunatelty.

In Miami, two gay men became foster parents to small baby who was born with HIV.
They nursed the baby back to health over a period of years when the babies natural family gave up on it.
Then they tried to adopt the baby but then the grandmother changed her mind (now that the baby is healthy) and decided she would take the child away.
She used the state's law against Gay adoption as her foundation to keep the baby.

What kind of child would be happy living with a woman who left them to die?
