my brother and i broke into our dads cabinet in the garage and spilled a bottle of something on the garage floor. we tried to clean it up but our mom found out. it smelled really bad and i'm not sure what it was. once she found out she sent us to our room. she told my brother he was getting spanked later and that i was grounded. i have to share a room with my brother. when my dad got home from work he came up, opened our door and told us both of us about how dangerous it was. he then grabbed my brother, yanked down his shorts and underwear and spanked him. i kind of laughed at him when he was getting it. after my dad got done something bad happened. he grabbed me and did the same thing to me. i couldn't do anything and i cried to. my brother is in 3rd grade and i'm in 7th. i can understand why my borther got spanked but i am way to old. i thought i was going to be grounded i think this is way unfair. what can i do?

Look at it this way, what will cause you more harm, your dad spanking you, or the chemicals from the spill.
I can understand why he did it. It was an impulsive reaction to his own fears that you two would be hurt. He figured he would get the message accross by causing you fear and spaking him instead of talking to him. And see it worked. He did instill some fear in you.
Oh and spanking is not child abuse. Beating you up would be.
Talk to your dad, tell him that spanking no longer works in the 7th grade. And stay out of the garage.
Oh and breaking into your dads stuff could be construed as breaking and entereing. So you deserve your punishment. You have no business doing that.

You are NEVER too old to be spanked. Maybe a nice whuppin' and then a few hours of actually being grounded. In a room with nothing but a chair and four walls, a ceiling, and a floor to stare at. That's a real grounding!
Oh how I miss the screamin'! I remember when there were daily beatings just to keep us in line!
Kids are just not given the spanking like they out too. Time-outs are for parents who are afraid of their children.

I d say your dad did the right thing cause you both could have been seriously hurt . Spanking is a good thing cause it makes you remember the sting a little better and you will think about it before you do something bad again . He spanked you both to teach you a lesson and your mom should have spoken to your father about the fact that she grounded you and told you so . Talk to your mother and be polite with her and ask her why she told you that knowing your father would probably spank. good luck and I hope you learned your lesson .

Getting spanked for older kids is like getting a shot. You were screaming when you were 4, but then, when your older, they might as well have just pinched you ya know?
Haha. I'm 15 and still getting spanked. I reccomend the next time your brother's getting beat don't laugh. Personally, I can't stand to watch it, especially when they use a belt on the kid as a freaking whip. I can almost feel the pain. But, it's for the best, odds are, the kids who were spanked as youngsters get farther in life because they've learned from their mistakes. In the end, it is fair because you get to watch all the people who were lazy and got grounded as kids suffer in their adult lives.

Try and stay out of trouble . Do things that wont suggest a spanking . Teach your brother ways to stay out of trouble as well . If you feel you are to old to get spanked then stay away from your parents things and act like you are your age . I'm not being mean I am telling you how to avoid spankings . GOOD LUCK !!!

The punishment your parents give to you is their decision and reflects the way they think about parenting. What I've found is that smart a** remarks or in this case, laughing when your brother got his punishment, will just make your parents mad.
What it seems like here is your dad thought you needed to learn a lesson when you thought it was slightly funny that your brother was spanked.

You can stay out of stuff in the garage that you have no business messing with. When you do things a 3rd grader does then you get treated like one-including the spanking.

I think you got spanked b/c your dad wanted you to see how it feels to be spanked and embarrassed in front of your brother since you laughed at him. I think the only thing you should do about the situation is apologize to you brother and your dad.
