i clean a house once a week they have two small children and a dod the three year old and the dog love me but the 16 month old is afraid of me the nanny told the parents she is scared of me???? i say hi and bye when she is leaving she says bye back but sometimes she cries when i walk in the same room any ideas im only there to clean!!!!

Are you using big noisy things like the hoover? Some children are scared of the hoover and perhaps she associates you with the big noise that scares her.
Also, since you aren't around her all the time, she's not going to be best of friends with you anyway- 16month olds can be picky about who they greet with a smile.
Don't take it personally.

Why do you care so much? Afterall you said you are only there to clean the house. Ignore the kids, do your job and get paid, she already has a nanny. If they are going to "fire" you because the baby finds you "Scary", count your blessings and move on. I'm sure there are many houses out there that need cleaning.

Completely ignore the child.making eye contact can be intimidating.I 've seen children that are ignored actually make the first contact.Good luck. If you feel comfortable talking to the parent's tell them what you are doing.
