A spanking is one firm pat on a clothed butt, that doesn't even hurt, so why is it considered abuse when some (weird) people actually GREET each other that way?

what i mean is if a 13 year old asks her mom for a thong he mom freaks out and thinks she wants to wear it b/c she is having sex or something... they sa she is growing up to fast... but maybe its because i am young but when i was high school and middle school thongs were just underwear and no one thought anything of it everyone wore them so it wasn't such a big deal. i work in a juniors store and there are girls thats are about 13 who come in and buy themselves thongs with the money that their mother gives them.. i am sure that they tell their mom thatthey spent the money on dinner in the mall or something. but the point is that they are gonna wear them anyways and just keep it a secret. i think that older people and by that i mean people 35 and older make to much out of it. because their girls are gonna do what they want and if they have to hide their underwear from them wht hapens when its more serious things???

My daughter is about to be 2 and she does alot of odd things...she gets mad if I dont let her sweep the house, shes always cleaning the floor with a paper towel or the tables with her bib, she doesnt like cartoons, all she wants to watch is CNN or Fox News, and I have to convince her to do the kiddie things such as sing nursery rhymes or read bedtime stories...Her first word wasn't even Momma or Dadda...it was Hello...she refuses to say simple words! She wants to make out sentences and gets mad when I dont understand her. She doesnt like toys and she never wants me to touch her books or even read to her.
Do you think she could possibly be mentally older than what she already is because I dont know what to do...

Help with a "development class" study?
I'm doing a survey and am looking for a few people to state their opinions to the following questions: 1. Who should be responsible for raising young children and why?

2. Should the government provide money and resources to low-income families with young children? If so, should the money come from tax dollars, or from some other source(s)?

Also please state your age, M/F, marriage status, and whether you have children. Also your nationality if other than resident of US
Thanks

My 19-year-old daughter got in a wreck last week when she rear-ended a truck in front of her. At that point she got a ticket and I found out that she had a suspended license for not paying a previous speeding ticket. We bought her the car, and it is insured on our insurance. Since she apparently doesn't have a drivers license she was told she couldn't drive any of our other vehicles (as hers is totalled). Last night we went to some other people's house and she took the truck (expensive $40,000 vehicle) without permission.

My husband (her step-dad) called the police and reported it stolen and asked that she be arrested. We also found out that she had been drinking prior to taking the truck. They didn't catch her and she had the truck returned before the cops caught up wiht her.

What would you have done? Did we overreact?

OK it's a very complecated situation so please only competent answers.I'm 18,my sister is 13.Our father is dead and our mother works in Spain since this August and she will be there until next Christmass when she will get back for a long time.I take the care of my sister and I run the 'family' with the money my mom sends us.She doesn't have the chance to come and see us,we only talk on the phone. My sister had sex with one guy and got pregnant. She cannot abort the child without mom's agreement. But mom is coming next Xmas and she doesn't know my sis is pregnant. We consider my sister will go through pregnancy and will give birth to the baby and then we will give it up for adoption. Our mom won't hear about that. Can a child be given up for adoption from his aunt(if the mother is young)?

How times have changed.

I remember when I was 13 (now in mid-30s) I was giving my Mom a difficult time. I was taking advantage of the fact that my Dad was on a business trip and my Mom had injured her wrist about a year before . I made a point of saying well there's nothing you can do about it because you can't spank me. Oh was I wrong! She drove me to the local police station and asked to have one of the police officers to have a "man to boy chat" with me. He and my mom and I went into this room. Then he yelled at me, took off my belt, pulled me over his knee like I was 5, and just blistered my butt "just like he said he would have done to his own kids" I was very very embarrassed and cried, and he told me he didn't want to see me back and I better respect my Mom from now on. I apologized to my Mom afterwards and probably had a sore bottom for at least 4 days afterwards. When my Dad got home, I got it again!

Would anyone else do this to their kids in a similar situation?

my 9 month old baby girl was being changed by my partner in the nursery upstairs when i heard my partner screaming wots happened wots happened hystericly. obiviously i jumped up, as i got to the stairs she was at the bottom with my daughter who was alright but had a very blank face. my partner said she wasnt reacting and had a look on her face and seemed dare i say it dead. wot i find really weird apart from that is usually when my daughter goes to touch something hot or go near the edge of the bed etc one of us screams no or panics and my daughter cries because she pics up on the fear even though she hasnt hurt herself, but my daughter didnt even react to her mum screaming like that, ive never heard a scream like it! its like my daughter just came to after or something. has anyone had anything like this ever happen we are very worried.

How do you tell your in-laws they are going to be grandparents? I get along with them really well, and they will most likely be happy for us but how do I go about telling them??? I want to do something sort of original. I was thinking making them a card that says like, "Congrats!" on the front and on the inside putting "You're grandparents to be!"

Therein lies the balance. The Bible is about teaching moderation in all things. Every time we go against Biblical instruction are we not doomed to failure? One excellent doctor I know said when he was a kid he didn't need many spankings because it was done correctly. He would be reasoned with, read to from scriptures. prayed with, and then have the consequences of the bad behavior, spank. He never got a spank from anger but in nuturing. Mmm

We did not teach him that- He goes to a day care with some kids about 4 years older than he and their parents have drug problems so the kids are probably screwed up- does he learn hitting from them.

I had this problem with my youngest son. He thought he should still be reward for doing something wrong as well as doing good. For example failing school and getting thrown off the bus for acting like a jerk. He would get rewarded for doing good.

My partner and I have a two bedroomed house but we have a 7 year old daughter and a 7 month old son. We also are expecting another child in August. We need to know what age they have to be seperated so we know how long we've got to wait before we can apply for a larger property. A link to a website would be helpful as I have not been able to find any information regarding this. Many Thanks.
