it is a 24/7 job. Rewards plenty.. hugs kisses smiles wonderful words like I love you and your the best mum ever.
But it is the hardest thing one will ever do in their life if they want to do it right. making sure they are socially adjusted and properly educated is a constant stress as is sickness, teething, sadness and those dreaded trips to the ER. the constant worry of will they be okay, are they safe or that dreaded thought that sneaks in in the middle of the night...Am I screwing them up, am I good parent. Second guessing things you do. Trying to give them enough freedom but not too much that they get hurt...in other words it is one big worry that I wouldn't change because my kids are my life and I try to focus on rewards I mentioned.
Is it easy..A resounding NO! Is it worth it...ABSOLUTLY!!!!

I am an nurse by profession. I work in the ER mostly. So, it is a vey bust and stressful job.
I have four children under 10 years of age.
Parenting is THE HARDEST thing anyone can ever be!!! Yet, it is the most rewarding also :)

I believe it is difficult at first because you have the baby and then you realise that YOU are RESPONSIBLE for something that cannot do anything for itself for up to about 3 years of age. It is totally dependant on you.

no its not.the newborn years are ok unless they get colic like my 11 year old son did then its horrible. Now that my middle child is turning 9 you have to becarefull of what you say to her or otherwise she will run off crying. Shes at that stage where all her friends are in a little group and unless you are wearing clothes from the gap or have a back pack like zoey101 then your on the outs.We are and have been teaching her personal hygiene you know brush your teeth ,brush your hair, put on your deodorant etc etc. An my 4 year old is like a tape recorder only she records things you wouldn't want repeated in public. Then its the tantrum stage where they get mad over every little thing doesn't matter what you say or do it doesn't make them happy. But through all that when they say to you "i love you ,your the greatest" All that hard work just melts. Kids are great and are lots of fun. Im going to get my daughter back in gymnastics because I feel its time to get her involved in something. an then you have the picky 4 year old unless its mac n cheese bologna or hot dogs in ketchup you might as well give it up lol.

Parenting is incredibly difficult! It is the hardest job a person will EVER do ... and also the most rewarding!!

I have raised 2 step-children, 4 children, numerous "extra's" and daycare kids, and am now a proud grandparent as well.

Some days you want to give up and haul it in and quit! but most days, it is deleriously fun, challenging, make you grow, and stretch beyond what you ever thought you could be. Parenting humbles you, makes you a child again, makes you laugh, and cry, and worry, and sometimes yell ....

and it's the most awesome experience I have ever had!
i feel so blessesd to have been a Mom!!

Why not? To become a parent is a bliss. If we think highly, without entering into practically, everything looks tough and unmanageable. If, with a confidence, we enter into the parenthood, we will certainly enjoy. At times, we may get some problems with our children. But, with experience and patience, we can easily overcome those problems. But, remember that this is not the place of experimenting.

It defines you as a person, a lot of answers here state that it is rewarding, well I don't know that yet. Honestly, I love my children, but rewarding? How do you define rewarding? After they grow up? I love my kids, I do my best, I hope all will be fine in time. It's nice to see them look up to you with wondering eyes, like you know everything. Maybe that's what people mean by rewarding. There are days when....

No way, it's the hardest job on earth, but I wouldn't trade it for anything! From when he was a baby, when you have to deal with him not sleeping, which means you don't sleep - to colic, to the terrible twos, etc. there are many times that are "trying" as a parent. However, I wouldn't trade it for anything. Being a parent has meant the world to me, and to my husband. There have been hard times as a family, and financially, but we have always put our child first.
So, it's not easy to be a parent - you have to give up being selfish and doing stuff for yourself, etc. - but it's the best job on earth!

A child is like a limb. It is part of you. And sometimes things go wrong, very wrong, even leading to amputation.
But once your child is born, that's it. You can't imagine being without them. There's no choice - your child is the most important part of your life.
As a parent you take it all - and you try to find solutions to problems. But few of us walk away from our children, no matter how rough it gets. And the rewards are many. Because our children are part of us, every one of their achievements we feel in our hearts and bodies. We ourselves grow in the love of our child. It's never easy being a parent. But that's what we are.

I wouldn't say it is easy. You can influence your children to a certain extent, but as they grow older they start learning their own minds that's when the fun starts. I am quite strict but know that my children aren't perfect, and don't push and expect them to be. As long as my children remember their manners, and behave correctly in various situations, and most importantly are happy then I think I am doing my job right.

For most people it's accepting that you cannot totally control your kids.

It is not easy to be a parent but it may be felt wonderful to be a parent. A person who is lazy may not be a good parent. Life demands work and good care, no matter whether you are a parent or not.
