I just want to know if I'm the only one who has done this. My grandmother's 75th birthday was Friday. Our whole family got together to have her a suprise party. Well, I had to work all weekend so I allowed my mother to take my children. This is the first time my grandmother has seen my youngest, who is nearly two years old. I trust my mom with my children, even if she can be a pain in the butt sometimes. What would you have done in this situation?

Ok I admit Im a guy and I want a daughter, not a son. I think it would be great to raise a girl for a change.

Is there something wrong with me?

My daughter is named Zoe so I would like a name that goes with that, not too unusual but not too common like John or Steven.
Any ideas?

As a name. What do you think of it? Do you think of it as a boys name or a girls name?
Also can you think of anyway kids might tease someone called Jude?
(aside from saying Hey Jude, I don't think many children listen to the beatles nowadays)

My family thinks that I will one day regret my life and the way I am raising my kids because I don't believe in Christianity. My kids know my family, but I don't let them get close or spend to much time alone I don't want my kids around people that think that mommy is going to hell. Even if my family doesn't say anything... all their standards of right and wrong are everywhere and my kids pick up on them and realize that we do 'wrong'. I don't want my kids getting close. Am I wrong? Would you feel the same? If my kids choose that when they are older, then fine. But when they are young, I don't think I should be undermined as a parent, even subtlely.

Hi all.

I'm new to this so you'll have to bare with me.

Last night I came home from work earlier than expected to find my 14 year old daughter naked and m*sturbating on the sofa to one of my 'adult' movies. I'm not sure which one of us was more embarrassed.
I said "ooh sorry" and just tried to find myself things to do in the kitchen. She must have bolted straight up to her room and has been up there since. As the adult I realise that I should probably go and talk to her, but would this just make things worse?
How has anybody else dealt with this situation? and would you have done it differently if you had the time again?
I just want her to know that I'm not mad with her, that it is normal and she doesnt have to be embarrassed about it, but also just want to tell her to be more careful. Is this what she needs to hear? or should i just let her come down in her own time and just never mention it? Any advice is welcome. Thanks.

I have adopted a boy 1 year ago when he was 12 years old. I am a 24 year old who his adopted mom and I have a big feeling he has some kind of thing going on with me.

At night he comes into my bed with me and says he had nightmares, or he couldnt sleep, and thats every night, when I am applying lotion on myself after baths and showers he will kind of say his skin is very itchy and dry, and kind of convinces me to put lotion on him, his arms, legs, ect and thats almost every day.

its actually very weird, but I really need some advice of what I should do. I do admit his skin is very dry (so i figure I will use lotion on him anyways) but what am I supposed to do?

A cousin of mine stayed with us for a short period of time. She's in her early 20's and is known to sleep around, and get into trouble. We've tried to talk to her about changing her lifestyle and getting some help. She had 2 kids before she was 17, and she doesn't have custody of either one of them. I don't want to let her go, because she'll end up on the streets or worse!
I want to be there for her, but it drains me to have to constantly worry about where she's at and having to pick her up in the middle of the night.
I believe she has ADHD and may have FASD, but there has never been any tests done on her. She refuses to get these done, and because she's an adult now, we can't force her.
I don't want to push her away, but it's hard on me, emotionally, to have to deal with her complaining about everything, and not doing anything about it. I know I can't change her, but we're her only hope in keeping her alive, at this point. What else can I do?

My 13 year old son has the most dry skin ever. Ever since winter came around I felt that his entire body is almost like sand paper.
I always see him itch it and everything. I went to a dermontologist and she said he just needs to be using lotion every day on his body after he takes his shower/bath.

I just got a new Nivea Dry skin lotion, which is very thick for him. I told him he needs to apply it every day after his shower. I come in after and I apply it on his back where he cant reach.

I found out he is not even using the lotion, the bottle is still full, but his back is doing better, from when I do it, I told him many times, but he never uses it. This is what I did so far.

-I showed him pictures of people with bad bad dry skin.

-I told him that girls hate guys who have dry skin-

-I asked him if he wants to pick his own lotion from the store.

And then one day, I caught him squrting the lotion in the toilet.. Please tell me what I should do!

My 16 year old son has a D in English, he is clearly not trying to do better. He has C or better in all other classes. My husband thinks he should let him go to a party. I say no b/c we need to teach him consequences for his bad grade. What should I do?

At my daughters school,I do playdates with the moms(young and "old"). At my son's school,NO mom talks to me past "hello". Im friendly and initiate conversation but it never leads to a get together. Im often told I look young(like 19) but Im 26,I dont dress like trash,Im very parental,(especially when Im with my kids)I just cant understand why they want nothing to do with me.
So,I ask you "older" moms do you just not like getting together with "younger" moms"?
