Yes, when The Gap Band did their song back in the 1980's, "you dropped the bomb on me, baby," my 4 year old would sang, "you just a bumble-bee, baaa-by." We couldn't convince her that she was singing the wrong words. So to this day, we call it the bumble-bee song.

yeah, that's what they do when they are not really reading yet. Have you ever tried to learn a foreign language? when all you have to go on is the sounds you're hearing, not being reinforced by being able to read the right words, you're going to sing the closest thing to what you hear. It's just a matter of practice/patience...and knowledge. TEACH her/him! ;-)

My favorite was when my toddler could sing but not talk (!) and then learned the words I made-up for the theme-song to "MacGuyver" (which he could already sing). I would sing, "He's gonna get out and escape..."

My kid kept saying, "He's going out on his skates!" lol! I never corrected him because it was too funny!

When I was young I would sing George Harrison's "I've Got My Mind Set on You". Except I would say it as one whole word. Something like "Mot-mo-say-on-u".

When we were kids my brother would make up words if he did not know the verses. Now watching my kids I wonder if it is hereditary..lol
